Police deployed gas as a dispersal order was issued for thousands of “No Kings” protestors gathered in downtown Los Angeles Saturday night. Protests are taking place on Saturday across the United States, with dozens of demonstrations planned in Southern California. The “No Kings” movement started in opposition of policies being instituted by President Donald Trump and his administration. Saturday’s nationwide protests coincide with Flag Day, the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army, and President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday. On their website, “No Kings” states that “the corruption has gone too far.”
“They’ve defied our courts, deported Americans, disappeared people off the streets, attacked our civil rights and slashed our services,” the website’s homepage reads. “The corruption has gone too far. No thrones. No crowns. No kings.” More than 2,000 "No Kings Day" protests were held on Saturday, organizers said.

With police having declared an unlawful assembly, many left. But those who remained grabbed chairs from a nearby public park to form a makeshift barrier, throwing objects at police on the other side.
