Kia Models Current Lineup And Discontinued Vehicles Motortrend
Kia builds vehicles focused on value, but in recent years, the brand has worked to enhance its products' style, equipment, and performance. The automaker still competes at the entry level but now creates some cars that are legitimately luxurious or fun to drive. Kia adds new features to every SUV and prepares a smaller electric crossover. Kia’s EV offensive shows no sign of slowing down with a new entry-level EV3 electric crossover on the horizon. The company’s larger EV6 also scores a major update this year. Every gas-fed model, from the Soul to the Telluride, receives some styling or tech embellishment.
Read on to see what's new with every 2025 Kia SUV. Kia has your Soulmate this year, the automaker’s name for a special package for the 2025 Soul subcompact SUV. The special edition modifications dress up the cute box with package-specific 18-inch wheels, lower body cladding, and a two-tone roof. Inside, the suite adds tan synthetic leather and cloth-upholstered seats as well as a Harman Kardon 10-speaker premium audio system. Both basic and more expensive versions of the Kia Seltos receive new equipment for 2025. The base S trim gains a standard 4.3-inch driver display, driver’s side power window with auto up/down, and new 17-inch two-tone wheels.
A cargo cover is now included with the EX AWD, and a power sunroof package is available for the EX FWD and AWD. Rear parking sensors become standard on EX and SX trim levels, and a power liftgate is new standard fare with EX AWD and SX models. Changes are light this year, somewhat expected considering the second-gen Niro was new just two years ago. All models of the small ute (hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric) pick up standard rear seatbelt pre-tensioners. The Niro EV Wave top model also scores a standard head-up display this year. The only other upgrade is for the SX Touring trim of the PHEV, which is now standard with the Cold Weather package.
The package adds heated rear seats and a Positive Temperature Coefficient heater that’s said to help preserve all-electric driving range. Kia bows a new compact sedan, and the Carnival minivan receives major updates. It’s a big year for Kia’s car and minivan lineup. These vehicles come with updated looks and tech for 2025, and one model receives a hybrid powertrain. Unfortunately, 2024 was the final model year for the Forte compact sedan. But we get to meet its replacement this year.

Kia’s small-car replacement for the Forte compact is the all-new K4, available in both sedan and hatchback body styles but only with FWD. It forges a distinct look using styling from the refreshed 2025 K5 midsize four-door as well as the EV9 electric SUV, but it doesn’t break new ground in terms of powertrains. All models come standard with a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated inline-four making 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque like the base engine from the Forte. A 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder upgrade that makes 190 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque is available for the GT-Line Turbo and is slightly less powerful than what was offered for the outgoing model. A 12.3-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch gauge cluster display, 5.0-inch climate control interface, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on this Kia car.
Heated front seats and a performance suspension are included with the GT-Line. A wireless phone charger, Harman Kardon premium audio system, and 360-degree camera are available. The K4 will likely be the brand’s most affordable model and should be decently equipped. But it competes against popular established players including the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. Is Kia saving everything significant and exciting for next year? Kia's lineup now consists of primarily crossovers, but the automaker still produces a few conventional cars.
Those models receive minor updates for 2024, as more notable changes—and a potential new model—are anticipated to arrive for 2025. Read on to decide if waiting until next year to buy a new Kia car seems like a better idea. Driver assist and active safety features on the Kia Forte GT-Line trim level expand to include adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and front automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. An electronic parking brake is also added. Previously, those features were bundled in the GT-Line Tech package, which has been discontinued for 2024. Kia might be working on a new compact sedan to replace the Forte—keep reading to learn more.
A single change is applied to the K5 for 2024: The GT-Line FWD model gains heated front seats as standard. It's likely Kia's midsize sedan will receive a more thorough refresh with new styling and features for 2025. Kia's minivan, the Carnival, receives minor feature changes for 2024. The EX trim no longer has one-touch raising and lowering windows, and the EX Power Tailgate Delete package (8-Passenger) is no longer available. Expect the Carnival to get a more thorough update for 2025. The Kia Soul will be discontinued after the 2025 model year following a nearly 20-year run.
There was a time that boxy designs were all the rage, for about a decade starting in 2005 or so. Nissan, Toyota, and Kia all offered boxy but roomy subcompact vehicles, but of the Cube, xB, and Soul, only Kia continued offering its geometric compact beyond 2015. Now, after nearly 20 years and 1.5 million vehicles sold in the U.S., the final Kia Soul will be built this month. While it wasn’t the first box-shaped vehicle to make it to the U.S., the Kia Soul ultimately became the best known in large part due to savvy marketing. We can forget the trio of cute, hip anthropomorphic hamsters that danced on behalf of Kia's compact hatchback starting in 2009? It was a part of Kia's “A New Way to Roll” campaign that earned several advertising awards—including Nielsen's Automotive Ad of the Year—and eventually culminated in a special 2010 Kia Soul Ham-star edition.
From there, Kia riffed on the popular Soul with concepts such as the open-roofed Soul’ster and the 250-hp AWD Track’ster. The latter debuted design cues found in the second-generation Soul that began production in 2013 as a 2014 model, but the production Soul wouldn't ever feature AWD. (A subcompact Kia crossover with AWD later became reality with the Seltos.) The Soul reached the 1 million units mark in 2018 just as it entered its third generation as a 2019 model. There will not be a fourth. That's unfortunate in a world where inexpensive cars become ever more endangered.
At just $21,935, the Kia Soul was one of the most affordable crossovers you could buy, but its death leaves just two other compact crossovers with similar prices. But as much as we lament the loss of an affordable vehicle, we just might miss the Soul's funky style more. The South Korean automobile manufacturer Kia has produced various cars, SUVs, and buses. Minor updates grace Kia’s versatile car lineup. The Kia SUV lineup is filled with solid options like the Sorento and the three-row Telluride , but the automaker knows that some buyers don't want to drive a high-riding crossover. For them, Kia offers one of the most complete car lineups out of any manufacturer today and includes everything from the subcompact Rio to eight-seater Carnival minivan.

The 2023 Kia Rio sedan and hatchback carry over into the new model year unchanged aside from the addition of an oil level sensor to the engine. It remains one of the c heapest new cars on sale with a base price that starts under $20,000. The Kia Forte is fresh from a facelift it received for the 2022 model year. The compact sedan carries over into 2023 with just a few changes.
Kia deleted the GT Technology package and added more standard safety tech for the range-topping GT model . New standard features for the sportiest Forte include Kia's FCA Fusion suite, which includes forward collision alert for cyclists, an electronic parking brake, highway driver assist, and Navigation Based Smart Cruise Control. The only caveat is that these new features are exclusive to the Forte GT equipped with a dual-clutch transmission; the manual version will not receive the new features. Kia is owned by Hyundai and is based in Seoul, South Korea. Kia vehicles share Hyundai platforms and technology, and they follow the same value-oriented philosophy: quality vehicles with lots of standard features for the money. Though many Kia products are similar to Hyundais, some, such as the Soul hatchback, are unique to the brand.
Kia SUV highlights are the three-row Telluride and subcompact Seltos, but it also offers the compact Sportage and mid-size Sorento. Traditional passenger cars include the compact Forte and mid-size K5 sedans, and the company also offers the Carnival minivan. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the Sportage and Sorento are available, and the Niro compact hatchback is offered as a hybrid, PHEV or all-electric vehicle. Kia’s expanding lineup of pure-electric vehicles includes the EV6 SUV (which shares its basic architecture with the Hyundai Ioniq 5) and EV9 three-row mid-size SUV.
