The post Josh Allen sends Patriots’ Drake Maye an inspiring Stefon Diggs message appeared first on ClutchPoints. The New England Patriots are hoping for a turnaround next season with quarterback Drake Maye entering the second year of his career. The front office made the effort to add Stefon Diggs to the wide receiver room, giving the young quarterback a veteran option in the passing game. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen recently expressed how important a role Diggs is going to play in Maye’s development. During a Q&A with Sports Illustrated, Allen praised Maye, calling him one of the best young quarterbacks in the league. The Bills’ star also name-dropped his former teammate in Diggs, as a vital tool to help Maye figure it out at the pro level.

“I think Drake is super talented, he’s one of my favorite young quarterbacks in the league,” said Josh Allen of the Patriots’ quarterback. “I’ve spent some time around him, and he’s got his head on his shoulders the right way. He just does things the right way. I think that he exemplifies football. He’ll take it and run, he’ll throw it, and to have someone like Stefon is going to help him out a lot.” Diggs, who is 31 years old, is coming off a torn ACL injury he suffered last season.

Expectations are that he’ll be fully healthy, as he’s already been participating in minicamp and OTAs. Stefon Diggs also recently caught attention after being spotted handing a bag filled with an unknown pink substance to several women over Labor Day Weekend. It’s safe to say the New England Patriots are still learning about Stefon Diggs, learning what to expect from a wide receiver who’s an All-Pro talent when healthy, but whose recent off-field antics have... Ironically, the Pats have gotten some advice from a bitter rival about what they can expect from Diggs during the 2025 season. NFL MVP and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen played alongside Diggs for a quartet of seasons from 2020-2023. The duo tormented the Patriots and helped Diggs earn four Pro Bowl berths.

Allen knows what makes the wideout tick, and he let Pats QB1 Drake Maye know what’s in store. Speaking to Sports Illustrated’s Liam McKeone, Allen said Diggs “brings a lot of security for Drake. Obviously, having the knowledge of playing in the league for so long, he has that veteran mentorship that he can give to Drake.” Those are encouraging words from the quarterback who’s owned the AFC East while the Patriots have become also-rans since Tom Brady left town five years ago. The Pats took Maye third overall in the 2024 NFL draft to restore the franchise to its former glories, but he won’t do it without a legitimate No. 1 receiver.

Diggs arrived this offseason with the right pedigree, but it’s been anything but a smooth transition since. DeMario Douglas and Drake Maye give their praise to Stefon Diggs after day 1 of Patriots mandatory minicamp. New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has only played one NFL season, but he has already earned respect and admiration from one of the sport's best players. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who won the league's MVP award last season, is a fan of Maye. They both have similar skill sets with the ability to throw the football with power and accuracy, while also being able to escape the pocket and use their athleticism to make huge plays running... Maye still has a ways to go before he does those things on Allen's level, but the potential is definitely there.

We are pretty far-removed from the New England Patriots having to worry about finding the next Tom Brady or even coming up with an answer after the Mac Jones era seemed to flop. Now, the Patriots' franchise quarterback is truly cementing himself as "the guy," regardless of any past names who have come through the building. Drake Maye is here. He has arrived. He is the future of this franchise, and everybody in that locker room knows it.

With a signature win over the division rival Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football, Maye continues to inspire belief not only within the fan base, but also among his closest teammates. After the game on Monday night, wide receiver Stefon Diggs was asked about Maye and the comparison he's received to another one of his former quarterbacks, Josh Allen. Diggs acknowledged the comparison, but also offered some high, individual praise for his current quarterback. "I feel like it's a hell of a comparison to be compared to Josh Allen, but as you come into your own, Drake Maye has to be Drake Maye," Diggs told the media. Everyone knows the narrative surrounding Diggs before his arrival New England. Shoot, even as recently as this past summer, there were off-field questions surrounding the polarizing wideout.

The New England Patriots would love for Stefon Diggs to fuel Drake Maye’s ascension the way the wide receiver helped elevate Josh Allen to stardom. Allen and Diggs spent four highly productive seasons together on the Buffalo Bills. During that time, Diggs had an NFL-high 445 catches while Allen amassed the second-most passing yards and touchdowns to Patrick Mahomes. After an injury-shortened 2024, Diggs returns to the AFC East. New England signed the All-Pro to a three-year deal in hopes of giving Maye a premier target. Allen discussed how Diggs will help Maye’s maturation in an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Liam McKeone.

“I think he brings a lot of security for Drake,” Allen said. “Obviously, having the knowledge of playing in the league for so long, he has that veteran mentorship that he can give to Drake.”
