That surpassed the mark of 45 such games that Cam Newton racked up throughout his career, making Allen the NFL's new leader. Coincidentally, Allen broke the record against Newton's old team. The history-making touchdown came in thrilling fashion, too. Allen hit Khalil Shakir for an explosive 54-yard scoring pass with 12:18 left in the third quarter, which at the time extended the Bills' lead to 23 points. He notched his first rushing score earlier in the game when he punched the ball in from a yard out late in the second quarter. YAC YAC YAC 👏#BUFvsCAR on Fox pic.twitter.com/l71AklwzHg

He beat one of their legends, too.
The Buffalo Bills quarterback passed former Panthers star Cam Newton for the most games in NFL history with both a passing and rushing touchdown, doing it for the 46th time in his career. Allen reached the milestone with a 1-yard rushing score in the second quarter, then added a short pass to Khalil Shakir in the third quarter that turned into a 54-yard touchdown after multiple broken... Allen later ran for another 1-yard touchdown, his second of the day. "It's cool," Allen shrugged regarding breaking Newton's record. "Just finding a way to win. That's all we're trying to do."
The performance also pushed Allen further up the league’s all-time rushing touchdown list. He now ranks 35th in NFL history, and second among active players, behind only Derrick Henry (111), with 70 rushing touchdowns, more than Larry Csonka, Herschel Walker and Eddie George. Josh Allen is a problem for the Dolphins. The Bills quarterback came into the Week 3 matchup between Miami and Buffalo with a 12-2 career record against his division rival from the Sunshine State. After two drives, the Bills had a 14-7 lead and Allen had broken one of Dan Marino's records. The Hall of Fame quarterback held the obscure record for most touchdowns scored against a single opponent in his first 15 games.
With Allen's first two touchdown passes of the night he broke that record against Marino's old team. According to the Amazon Prime broadcast, Allen's 45 total touchdowns against the Dolphins is also a record for the most over a 15-game span against any opponent in NFL history. #Bills Josh Allen has scored more total TD (44 and counting in 15 games vs #Dolphins) than any other player in NFL history in his first 15 career games against a single opponent, passing... The thing is, Allen is awesome. He's the reigning MVP. He's great against pretty much everyone.
It just so happens the Dolphins have to see him twice a season. And then he shows up and does stuff like this: The Buffalo Bills are in the midst of trying to get to 3-0 against the Miami Dolphins - a team that Josh Allen has never lost to at home. Speaking of the reigning MVP, he was chasing history heading into the Week 3 contest, as he was two touchdowns away from passing Patrick Mahomes to become the quickest player to ever reach 300... Allen has now broken the record with a touchdown flip to Jackson Hawes in the second quarter of the Thursday Night Matchup. He also threw a touchdown to Dalton Kincaid to tie the game at seven after the Dolphins scored on their opening drive.
Mahomes accomplished the feat in 128 games - Allen beat his rival by a game, accomplishing it in 127. The Bills and Chiefs will face off in Buffalo in Week 9. Be sure to bookmark NFL on The Sporting News for all the latest news, interviews, breakdowns, and more! Get ready for another year of Josh Allen breaking records. He's got a lot of them in his sights, and one could be broken as early as week 1. It's been fun to watch Josh Allen go from the kid who nobody wanted on their college team (except Wyoming) to the NFL MVP who is shattering records all along the way.
Josh Allen has already broken records by popular Bills players like Jim Kelly and O.J. Simpson, and now he's got his sights set on one that he's currently sharing with another Bills great. Last year, he was able to break a bunch, but there was one that he tied in December, and he could own by the end of week 1. If Josh Allen scores just one rushing touchdown, he will be the team's sole rushing touchdown leader with 66 career rushing touchdowns. He's currently tied with Thurman Thomas, with each of them tallying 65 throughout their careers. Just think about that.
In Thurman Thomas' entire career, he scored 65 rushing touchdowns. Josh is only 8 years into his career, and he's already tied that number. He's currently the all-time leader in total touchdowns for a player in the NFL in their first 8 seasons. If Allen is able to secure that record, he will only be the second quarterback in the NFL to hold the rushing touchdown record for his team. The other is former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. He's got a few to reach Cam's record though.
Newton was able to score 75 touchdowns in 155 games with Carolina.
