She wasn’t always this devoted to her own well-being, though, and in a new interview with People, Bündchen opens up about the mental health scare that prompted her to take a more holistic approach... “Things can be looking perfect on the outside, but you have no idea what’s really going on,” the Brazilian star said, explaining why she decided to share her mental health issues in her upcoming... “I felt like maybe it was time to share some of my vulnerabilities, and it made me realize, everything I’ve lived through, I would never change, because I think I am who I am... Bündchen said she experienced her first panic attack in 2003, during a bumpy flight, and subsequently developed a fear of enclosed spaces like tunnels and elevators. “I had a wonderful position in my career, I was very close to my family, and I always considered myself a positive person, so I was really beating myself up. Like, ‘Why should I be feeling this?’ I felt like I wasn’t allowed to feel bad,” she said.

“But I felt powerless. Your world becomes smaller and smaller, and you can’t breathe, which is the worst feeling I’ve ever had.” As the panic attacks continued, the 38-year-old told People she started looking for any way to make them stop. “I actually had the feeling of, ‘If I just jump off my balcony, this is going to end, and I never have to worry about this feeling of my world closing in,'” she said. Fortunately, she sought help from a specialist instead, and was prescribed Xanax. Though, while medication helps many, it isn’t the total solution to every mental health problem, and Bündchen kept probing.

Gisele Bündchen has finally opened up, sharing her experience of the divorce phase. After a beautiful 13-year marriage, the former power couple severed their ties on October 28 of the previous year. Both diverted themselves into their respective work— Tom Brady rejoining the NFL after his initial retirement and Bündchen resuming her modeling career. However, appearances can be deceiving, as the truth behind their apparent ease of moving on is more complex. In June, an expert unveiled that the NFL legend was feeling discontent compared to the Victoria’s Secret angel. But as the days unfolded, rumors began circulating about Brady’s potential romantic involvement with Russian model Irina Shayk.

In contrast, Gisele Bündchen, who initially appeared content after the divorce, faced a challenging period post-breakup. She has since opened up, defying all the criticisms and revealing her truth. The supermodel, 43, has shared how she maintained a positive outlook after her divorce from Brady in October 2022, ending their 13-year marriage. Speaking with Vogue Brasil, Gisele Bündchen explained, “I’ve always believed that every situation, no matter how challenging, teaches us something and helps us grow.” Bildnummer: 54353403 Datum: 14.04.2004 Copyright: imago/United ArchivesKPA69318.jpg NEW YORK TAXI Taxi USA 2004 Tim Story Attraktive Bankräuberin: Vanessa (GISELE BÜNDCHEN) rights=ED People Entertainment quer Film Fernsehen Kino Komödie Actionfilm PortraitBildnummer 54353403 Date 14 04... She also confessed that she felt “suffocated” when she was in studios, and only found true peace once she had stepped back from the modelling industry and started “living,” as opposed to “surviving.” On CBS News Sunday Morning, the 43-year-old former Victoria’s Secret Angel reflected on feeling “suffocated” at the height of her career, and even refused to use elevators because she feared being stuck in them.

“I was in tunnels; I couldn’t breathe. And then, I started being in studios, and I felt, like, suffocated,” she confessed. Gisele Bündchen opened up about struggling with “severe” panic attacks and depression in her early 20s. “I had no idea that it was correlated with my lifestyle—and food was a big part of it,” she said. Your early 20s are, stereotypically, a time of freedom, fun, and exploration.

But for Gisele Bündchen, they were “one of the worst times in my life,” she recently said on The View. That’s because she struggled with “severe” panic attacks and depression, which she never thought to trace back to her intense, “hamster wheel” lifestyle as a new model, she explained. After a year and a half of struggle, a naturopathic doctor suggested changes in her diet, exercise, and sleep schedule. “I wasn’t really paying attention, I was just going, like a hundred miles an hour,” the supermodel, 43, told The View co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Sara Haines. “I had no idea that it was correlated with my lifestyle—and food was a big part of it.” Barsha Dutta has been covering the NFL since 2024, bringing a fresh and engaging perspective to the game.

The couple split in October 2022, and now co-parent their son Benjamin, 14, and daughter Vivian, 11. Brady is also a dad to his son, Jack, whom he shares with his ex, Bridget Moynahan. Now, as Bündchen is promoting her new cookbook, 'Nourish: Simple Recipes to Empower Your Body and Feed Your Soul', she is revealing how food has helped her cope with mental health. The former Victoria's Secret angel has been open about her mental health journey ever since the tough split from her ex-husband. Gisele Bündchen teared up while remembering her younger self at a VTEX event in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Monday, June 5. The supermodel, 42, has worked in the modelling industry for most of her life, but she said her rise to fame wasn't easy.

She joined the co-founder of the e-commerce platform VTEX, Mariano Gomide, to discuss the impact of other people's expectations when she was just a teenager. “Nothing is permanent,” she wrote in a philosophical Instagram post. Gisele was discovered in 1993 at a shopping mall by Elite Model Management. At the time, she was 14 years old, and uprooted her life to move to São Paulo without her family to pursue modeling. She made her debut at New York Fashion Week in 1996, and from there, her career skyrocketed. Gisele walked notable runways and booked top-tier photoshoots, even gracing the cover of US Vogue three times in 1999.

Fast forward to the present day, and she's still on top — but it came with a price. Gisele teared up when she recalled her humble beginnings, and how quickly her life was transformed by the all-encompassing attention she received as a teenager. “She still gets emotional when she thinks about leaving her family and her sisters,” a source told People. “She was only 14 years old and she went off to start a new life, a new career. She left everything she knew behind.” Gisele Bündchen gave a moving speech “about our impact on the world and how this can be positive, despite the challenges” per a translation from Twitter.

After regaining her composure, she gave the crowd an inspiring message: “You can do anything if you believe in yourself and your dreams. Everything is possible when we believe, and I am no different from you. I am simply a person who believed.”
