There was some logic to that with quarterbacks providing the most value to a team and the same panel picking the All-Pro team and all of the awards. There was a rare flip this year with Buffalo’s Josh Allen narrowly edging Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson in the MVP voting announced Thursday night after finishing second in All-Pro voting revealed last month. There was a rare flip this year with Buffalo’s Josh Allen narrowly edging Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson in the MVP voting announced Thursday night after finishing second in All-Pro voting revealed last month. NEW ORLEANS — Josh Allen wanted to leave New Orleans with different hardware. Still, he’s happy to be recognized for his accomplishments. Allen edged two-time winner Lamar Jackson for the AP NFL Most Valuable Player award in the closest race since Matt Ryan beat out Tom Brady in 2016. “I wish we weren’t hoisting this trophy.

I wish we were hoisting the Lombardi — and we’re going to keep working until we do,” Allen said Thursday, referring to winning a Super Bowl. Allen, who led Buffalo to a fifth consecutive AFC East title, got 27 first-place votes to Jackson’s 23 and finished with 383 points. He received 22 second-place votes and one third. The Bills fell short of playing on Sunday, losing to Kansas City in the AFC title game. Jackson, who led the Ravens to a second consecutive AFC North title, got 26 second-place votes and one fourth for a total of 362 points. The third time was a charm for Josh Allen.

The Buffalo Bills quarterback was named the Associated Press Most Valuable Player of the Year for 2024 after two previous finishes as runner-up at the NFL Honors show in New Orleans on Thursday. Allen defeated Lamar Jackson in the playoffs and then beat out his Baltimore Ravens counterpart for MVP. Allen received 27 first-place votes to 23 for Jackson, who is a two-time MVP (2019 and 2023). Allen's left tackle Dion Dawkins was one of the presenters for the award during the ceremony. Allen stood up, kissed fiancee Hailee Steinfield, and his mother, Lavonne Allen, and received a standing ovation. He hugged Dawkins on stage before greeting the other presenters, LeSean McCoy, Ray Lewis, Kurt Warner and Aidan Hutchinson.

This marked just the third time since the AP started handing out the Most Valuable Player award in 1961 that a player won at least a share of the MVP after not being voted...

(The AP had a Most Outstanding Player award from 1957-60 and those winners also were first-team All-Pros). Lamar Jackson won his second NFL MVP but came just one first-place vote short of becoming the NFL's first two-time unanimous MVP. That one vote was cast by FTNFantasy's Aaron Schatz. Schatz had the Ravens quarterback at third behind Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. Allen finished fifth overall in the voting, while Prescott came in a distant second. AP NFL MVP voting Lamar Jackson 49-0-1-0-0 = 493 Dak Prescott 0-17-13-11-6 = 152 Christian McCaffrey 0-17-12-11-4 = 147 Brock Purdy 0-9-5-12-13 = 97 Josh Allen 1-5-11-3-6 = 80 Tyreek Hill 0-2-6-9-14 = 60...

Stroud… Schatz published his vote with an explanation, which he also used for why he left Jackson off his All-Pro team vote.
