The Lemieux Library is at the center of teaching, learning and research, offering a wide range of resources, services, expertise, spaces and technology. Most importantly, the library supports our students’ academic and personal journeys. You’ll enjoy spending time in this dynamic and inspiring campus library full of light and art. Located near the center of campus, it’s connected to the Student Center by a walkway and inside you'll find a café. The library is a popular space for studying, group work, creative projects and meeting up with friends.

With a well-staffed and enjoyable environment, Lemieux Library is also a top student employer on campus. SU ID card is required for entry after 6 p.m. and on weekends. Built in 1964, Lemieux Library was an uninviting repository for books that lacked modern technology and functionality. The design reinvents this campus landmark by pairing a sensitive renewal of the historic structure with the addition of a light-filled learning commons, restoring the library’s central role on campus. The three-story glass and brick addition contains a spectrum of quiet and active learning spaces tuned to support diverse individual work styles and group needs.

Students, faculty and surrounding neighbors fill the technology-rich building from early morning until late night – demonstrating the university’s commitment to learning and community. The learning commons enhances connections between the library and adjacent buildings, improving pedestrian flow and defining a new plaza at the center of campus. With its impressive art collection and visible sustainability, the building enriches the campus experience. Renovation and addition transforms historic library from book repository to dynamic learning hub at the heart of campus 380,000-volume library, multimedia lab with recording studio, distance learning environment, classroom and training spaces, diverse research and study spaces, café, outdoor learning spaces Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learnings Commons has 6 floors of mixed-use study space including Groups and individual study rooms, cubicles, tables, computer labs, and reading rooms.

Access to 24/7 spaces is limited to current SU students, staff, and faculty before or after library closing and require an active SU ID card to enter. The library catalog, Primo provides simple, one-stop searching for books and e-books, videos, articles, and digital media across Lemieux and Law Libraries and the Orbis Cascade Alliance libraries.

You can limit your search to Lemieux Library materials only by using the Lemieux Library scope. Additional information is available at the Library Catalog Guide and at Direct Linking to Library Resources. Print books are located on library floors 3,4, and 5. Lemieux Library has several eBook collections allowing selected options to view, print, and/or download. Search the catalog for an eBook as you would for any other book by title, author, subject or keyword. To limit your results to e-books only, choose eBooks under the filter Material Type.

Research databases are broad in scope and include abstracting and indexing services with or without aggregated full-text, aggregated journal collections, open access services, directories, and aggregated collections of books. The library database subscriptions include general, interdisciplinary databases and some specialized or discipline-specific databases. Searching in the Library Catalog (Primo) does not retrieve all the content from the databases to which SU subscribes, so it will be important to extend your search strategy to target individual databases. Key databases are identified for you in each of the Research Guides by Subject. These guides will focus your research for specific courses assignments.

For access to all databases across disciplines, use Lemieux Library’s A-Z Database list. Access to full-text online journals includes individually subscribed titles, aggregated collections from a single or multiple publishers, and open access titles.
