Taylor Swift won’t be on the roster of Grammy Award nominations for the 2026 ceremony, but don’t worry, Swifties. The Recording Academy voters didn’t forget one of the most dominant artists in Grammy history. Swift’s record-breaking 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl debuted on Oct. 3, roughly a month after the cutoff for 2026 Grammy Award consideration. This year, the Recording Academy casts ballots for music released between Aug. 31, 2024, and Aug.

30, according to Billboard. The Life of a Showgirl qualifies for the 2027 show. The Recording Academy announces nominees for the 2026 Grammy Awards on Friday at 11 a.m. EST. Backed by a staggering number of physical variants and alternate digital versions, Showgirl smashed first-week sales expectations for a modern release – even by Swift’s standards. The album moved roughly four million album-equivalent units in its first week, with 3.5 million in physical sales.

It was the best-selling debut week for an artist since media consumption company Luminate (formerly Nielsen SoundScan) began tracking sales in 1991. Additionally, the album dominated the Billboard Hot 100 chart on release week, slotting all dozen album songs in the top 12 positions on the chart. As of publication time, lead Showgirl single “The Fate of Ophelia” remains at No. 1 on the Hot 100; the album has also held the top spot on the Billboard 200 for four consecutive weeks (and counting). For the first time in three consecutive years, Taylor Swift was left off of the Grammy Award nominations list. The music nominations were announced on Friday, November 7, where stars such as Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, Chappell Roan and more received nods.

Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl, however, was excluded from the accolades. Swift, 35, has won 14 Grammys in years past and received six nominations at the 2024 Grammys for that year’s Tortutured Poets Department. However, Showgirl was never eligible for inclusion at the 2026 ceremony. Next year’s awards show honor records that were released between August 31, 2024, and August 30, 2025. Swift dropped The Life of a Showgirl, her 12th studio album, two months later on October 3, 2025. The record will be eligible at the 2027 Grammys instead.

Swift wrote and recorded Showgirl during the European leg of her Eras Tour in 2024, pulling from her experience between concerts and in her relationship with fiancé Travis Kelce. While the pop star called the LP one of her favorites she’s ever created, not all fans and critics were on the same page. Taylor Swift didn’t receive any nominations for the forthcoming 2026 Grammy Awards because her latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” doesn’t qualify. The annual award show announced its nominees on Friday — with the 14-time Grammy winner notably missing from the star-studded list. The eligibility period for the 68th annual Grammy Awards is Aug. 31, 2024, through Aug.

30, 2025. With Swift releasing her twelfth studio album on Oct. 3, her new music debuted well after the eligibility window closed. She also didn’t drop any new singles, music videos or other records during the timeframe that would allow her to qualify. (Her previous album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” came out in April 2024.) The official nomination list for the 2026 Grammy Awards is out, and some fans of Taylor Swift wonder why she has zero nominations despite releasing her successful album, The Life of a Showgirl, this...

Swifties can rest easy—there's a simple reason Taylor Swift isn't nominated for the 2026 Grammy Awards. When the Recording Academy announced this year's nominations on 7th November, fans quickly noticed the 'Cruel Summer' singer's name missing from the list. But Swift's absence isn't due to a snub—it's purely a matter of timing. The eligibility period for the 68th Annual Grammy Awards ran from 31st August 2024 through 30th August 2025. Since Taylor Swift released her 12th studio album, 'The Life of a Showgirl,' in October 2025, it officially fell outside of the qualifying window. Because of that, neither the album nor its lead single, 'The Fate of Ophelia,' could be submitted for consideration this year.

Her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, missed the eligibility window, making it ineligible for this year’s nominations. So, despite her strong relationship with the Recording Academy, Swift’s omission was purely a matter of timing, not talent.
