The regular season is here, and many of the NFL’s rookies made their official debuts. As always, we will track the performance of all 32 first-round picks, as well as their snap counts and principal opponents. For the first time in the 2025 regular season, here is our analysis of this year’s first-round draft picks. Ward drew a tough debut assignment against a good Denver defense and was under heavy duress throughout the day. He was pressured on 52.9% of his dropbacks and was sacked six times. Ward didn’t make any glaring mistakes and certainly wasn’t helped much by his receivers, but he completed just one of 12 attempts that traveled beyond 10 air yards.

Game grades, positional splits and high-level metrics for the 2025 season. Hunter took the vast majority of his reps at wide receiver in Week 1 and hauled in six receptions for 31 yards. One of those catches was contested, and he broke two tackles. However, he earned just a 55.2 PFF receiving grade due to a drop. Defensively, Hunter played six snaps at cornerback and made one tackle in coverage. Week 1 marked the NFL debut for scores of rookies all around the league.

From top overall pick Caleb Williams to undrafted free agents dotting lineups everywhere, all 32 teams got their first looks at their rookie classes in meaningful action over the four-day football weekend. Some debuts fared better than others. Draft status often didn't matter a whole lot in some cases. Which rookies earned the highest Pro Football Focus grades in Week 1 at each position? 2 overall pick, edged out top pick Caleb Williams with a 50.7 grade. Irving, a fourth-rounder from Oregon, paced rookie RBs with a 71.6 overall grade. November 6, 2025, 9:49am EST 479 • By Alex Hoegler The 2025 NFL first round was packed with quarterback drama, surprise risers, and blue-chip defenders expected to become instant cornerstones. Now that we’re halfway through the season, the early returns are finally clear. Some rookies have exceeded expectations and become immediate impact players, while others are still struggling to adjust to the league’s speed and physicality.

From breakout stars reshaping their franchises to first-round gambles that haven’t paid off yet, we break down how every 2025 first-round pick has performed so far — and what their trajectory looks like heading... It’s unfair to fully blame Ward for the Tennessee Titans’ struggles. But like, Caleb Williams and Robert Griffin III had excellent rookie years on horrible teams with textbook coaching malpractice. Ward is barely completing over half his pass attempts, is in danger of finishing with more interceptions than passing touchdowns, and, oh yeah, has his Titans in a spot to potentially pick first overall... Rookies don't get a second chance to make a first impression in the NFL. Here, we evaluate how every 2024 first-round pick fared in their first season in the league.

Stats: 62% completion, 3,451 yards, 20 TDs, 6 INTsBest game: vs. Jaguars (Week 6)Worst game: at Texans (Week 2) Williams' 2024 wasn't great. He was sacked 68 times - the worst mark in football - and showed a tendency to hold onto the ball too long. It wasn't entirely his fault. The Bears' O-line had a lot of issues, and their bad coaching situation resulted in Matt Eberflus getting fired in November.

But Williams ultimately didn't come close to living up to the hype, even if he did display his ability to make off-script plays. Stats: 69% completion, 3,568 yards, 25 TDs, 9 INTs; 6 TD runsBest game: at Bengals (Week 3)Worst game: vs. Steelers (Week 10) Daniels went 21-for-23 passing against Cincy on his first Monday Night Football to set a rookie single-game record for completion percentage (91.3). He also accounted for three touchdowns with no turnovers that night. You may also remember his Hail Mary TD pass to beat the Bears.

Or his five-TD comeback win over the Eagles. Or his touchdown in overtime to walk off the Falcons and send Washington to the playoffs. The Offensive Rookie of the Year favorite had no shortage of remarkable moments and helped the Commanders return to the postseason after they won four games in 2023. Mark Cuban has always been one of the NBA’s most outspoken and hands-on owners, but even he admits not everything has gone the way he Cleveland’s push to stay among the East’s elite just hit a major setback. Another pretty quiet week in the Razzball Commenter Leagues as most leagues have settled into a flow. It’s not too late to make moves, though. We are all thrilled football is back, and what kind of young-player analyst would I be if I didn't grade the first-round rookies after their first preseason game? Now, of course, don't read into these marks too much. We are only one exhibition outing into these players' professional careers -- or in the case of the Lions and Chargers, two contests in. But now that there's legitimate NFL film to watch, grades are to be handed out, meaningless game or not.

Yes, I was pumped to watch these prospects, whom I studied for months, on a professional field. These are preseason grades for first-round rookies. Before I begin, if a rookie isn't listed, it's either because he did not play in his respective team's opening game or, due to a variety of reasons, wasn't able to make much of... Ward looked like the Miami and Washington State version of himself in the preseason debut against the Buccaneers. Poised in the pocket, patiently scanned the field. Threw with his vintage, sidearm snap of a delivery, and made one bad decision down the sideline.

The velocity and accuracy were solid in his exhibition debut. Two catches, one with a glimmer of YAC juice. On defense, he played eight snaps and looked as advertised in coverage, but he missed a tackle, which actually wasn't much of a problem at Colorado or Jackson State. The president’s approval ratings have reached their lowest since he took office in January. Surveillance footage from Olivia’s Fine Jewelery store in Madera, California, shows the moment the crooks stormed the store to raid the jewelery cases.

Irving, a fourth-rounder from Oregon, paced rookie RBs with a 71.6 overall grade. • Philadelphia Eagles interior defender Jordan Davis earned one of the highest grades of the first-rounders, with a 74.3 overall mark on 22 snaps in Week 1. • New York Jets cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner also earned a 70.0-plus overall grade after breaking up a potential touchdown pass and allowing just one catch for eight yards. • It was a quiet debut for Detroit Lions No. 2 overall pick Aidan Hutchinson, who tallied three hurries on 36 pass-rushing snaps. The 2022 NFL regular season is underway, and we will be checking in weekly on the first-round rookies, grading their performances as well as highlighting who their principal individual opponent was in each game.

Walker made a couple of spectacular plays against Washington that highlighted his potential. His sack was the kind of elite, athletic speed rush around the corner that was largely absent from his tape in college, while his interception of Carson Wentz on a screen was fantastic diagnosis... The reason his grade isn’t higher is that the sack was his lone pressure on 32 pass-rushing snaps. The flashes were spectacular, but the Jaguars need more volume.
