The governor’s directive emphasizes the need to maintain the rule of law and protect citizens, visitors and businesses. Kehoe’s order invokes provisions of Missouri law, specifically sections 44.010 through 44.130 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri, which allow for emergency declarations in response to threats to public safety. The order also references sections 41.480 and 41.690, granting the Adjutant General authority to mobilize the militia as needed. The emergency declaration is set to expire on June 30 unless extended in whole or in part.
The order directs the Adjutant General and commanding officers of any activated units to take necessary actions and employ equipment in support of civilian authorities, as authorized by the governor.
