Georgetown Law Magazine is Georgetown Law's alumni publication. Originally named Res Ipsa Loquitur, it began in 1936, combining campus news with news of alumni, at a time when the law school had no student newspaper. Publication stopped in 1941. When publication resumed in 1951, Res Ipsa Loquitur was the school newspaper, sponsored by the newly founded Student Bar Association. In 1965, Res Ipsa Loquitur changed to a magazine format and became strictly an alumni publication; Georgetown Law Weekly was established in 1966 as the law school's student paper. During the years 1974 and 1975 Res Ipsa Loquitur was a journal of public interest and the law, published primarily by evening students.

Beginning with the Fall 1994 issue, the magazine changed its name to Georgetown Law, and Res Ipsa Loquitur was retained as a sub-title. Beginning with the Spring-Summer 2017 issue, the sub-title Res Ipsa Loquitur was dropped and the name became simply Georgetown Law. The digital collection includes all issues, 1936 to the present. Welcome to the online edition of Georgetown Law, the alumni magazine of Georgetown University Law Center. DeGioia (C’79, Ph.D.’95) was deeply engaged in Georgetown’s mission of student formation, academic inquiry, and service to the common good.
