NEW ORLEANS — A few years ago, veteran NFL QB Chad Henne cautioned me against making comparisons between Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes any time in the near future. Henne was right. It was way too soon, even with Mahomes on a torrid pace in Super Bowl appearances. We can talk about whether Mahomes is in the same conversation as the GOAT, who has seven Super Bowl rings. But that's all it is: chatter. It's not meaningful.

There's no legitimacy to the argument. Mahomes remains distantly behind Brady. And on Sunday, Mahomes' pursuit of Brady took a hit. To be clear, I'm not saying Mahomes' legacy took a hit. Super Bowl LIX was more about squandered opportunity. The Chiefs' 40-22 loss took a fourth Super Bowl win off the table (for now).

But more importantly, the Eagles took a three-peat off the table. Before the Super Bowl on Sunday, many people were trying to talk about the GOAT status between Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady. Entering the game, Mahomes had three Super Bowl titles and Brady had seven Super Bowl titles. Patrick Mahomes had a chance to three-peat, which is something Tom Brady has never done in his NFL career. The Kansas City Chiefs were dominated from start to finish against the Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia won the game over Kansas City by a final score of 40-22. Many NFL fans couldn’t wait to defend Brady and bash Mahomes after the Super Bowl on Sunday.

The Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback was sacked several times and struggled in the game. He completed 21-of-32 passes for 257 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Patrick Mahomes also rushed for 25 yards on four carries. Brady was 7-3 in Super Bowls and Mahomes dropped to 3-2 in Super Bowls. This is what NFL fans had to say about them after the game on Sunday: Don’t EVER compare Patrick Mahomes to Tom Brady again pic.twitter.com/qIMrYRY9Nd

Congratulations to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on winning Super Bowl LV. From Tom Brady to Bruce Arians to Devin White to Todd Bowles and more, the Bucs were a pretty easy team to like and be happy for. To be clear, Tampa Bay was an awesome team with stars all over the field, and winning a championship is not about just one player. But this article focuses on Brady, who the entire Buccaneers organization will say raised the level of everyone and everything when he joined them last year. In recent years, the tide has seemingly turned in favor of public opinion holding Brady in very high regard, partly because it’s been impossible to deny his excellence and partly because it’s hard not... Growing up as an Eagles fan, there was even a stretch where I didn’t like him; then there was some moment where he got a first down or something during a game and was...

Brady has probably won a lot of people over through the years, and he isn’t someone you doubt. After winning ring No. 7, it’s not crazy to think he might actually win No. 8, No. 9, or No. 10.

He defies age and gets better with more experience, thanks to his unmatched commitment, the TB12 Method, and his past-master-level mental ability. After Brady’s fourth Super Bowl title I thought he was the greatest athlete ever, and his fifth championship in the stunning 28-3 comeback set it in stone for me; since then, Brady has added... You don’t need me to elaborate on how mind-blowing all this stuff is by writing a long piece—this isn’t about a writer, it’s about Brady—so I’m just going to dive right into some of... His seven Super Bowl wins is more than any NFL franchise. Brady switched conferences, adjusted to a new city, coaches, and teammates during a pandemic, and won a championship in his first season with his new team. The Kansas City Chiefs, led by two-time AP MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes, are attempting to become the first NFL franchise to successfully complete a Super Bowl three-peat, but would such an accomplishment propel Mahomes...

Records are meant to be broken, but some records are less breakable than others. NFL fans cannot possibly compare Mahomes to Brady without first mentioning the original GOAT: Joe Montana. Nicknamed “Joe Cool” for his legendary Super Bowl performances, Montana threw 11 touchdowns to 0 interceptions in four Super Bowl victories. Montana was once compared to Michael Jordan for one logical reason: He excelled under pressure and never lost a Super Bowl in his entire 15-year career. To this day, some could easily still argue that Montana will always be the true GOAT. .@JoeMontana in the 1989 playoffs:▪️11 TDs, 0 INTs▪️78.3% completion rate▪️146.4 QB rating▪️267 yards per game

The greatest postseason run ever by a QB? 🤔 @49ers pic.twitter.com/7fypRl3zjS Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has a shot to make history in Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles on Feb. 9. But will it be enough to end the ultimate debate of whether Mahomes or seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback of all time? Mahomes is a victory shy of recording the NFL’s first-ever three-peat in the Super Bowl era (since 1966) and already surpassed Joe Montana for the second most playoff wins (17) ever recorded — Brady...

“I can see where he could pass Brady. It’s possible. But one of the things you have to do, bro, that you just can’t gloss over is longevity,” Travis Thomas said on NESN’s “Boston Has Entered The Chat” podcast. “That’s one of the things that made Tom great. Tom technically, if you really wanna break it down, had three Hall of Fame careers in one. He had the early Super Bowls when the defense was winning them and then he had that break in between when didn’t win a Super Bowl but his numbers were incredible, and then he...

Brady and the New England Patriots fell shy of recording a three-peat of their own when Nick Foles and the Eagles came out victorious in Super Bowl LII. The following season, Brady added his sixth and final title to his illustrious 20-year run with the Patriots before defeating Mahomes and the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV, 31-9, as a member of the... In Pics: Classic looks of Meghana Lokesh Samantha Ruth Prabhu's shines bright in her no makeup looks - Pics The Kansas City Chiefs have lost their second Super Bowl after being killed by the Philadelphia Eagles 40-22. That's the second time the Chiefs have gotten beat badly in the Super Bowl, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tom Brady throttling the Chiefs 31-9. That was Tom Brady's seventh Super Bowl ring, and ever since he retired, there's been more talk of a GOAT debate between Brady and Mahomes. That GOAT debate got re-ignited on Sunday night after Mahomes played one of the worst games of his career.

Those on social media noted that the game went a similar way to how the Bucs defeated the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV, and that with a Brady win over Mahomes and Super Bowl... Here's what football fans on social media were saying after the game. “When we beat them in Tampa…” @TomBrady music to our ears Tom Brady is 7-3 in Super Bowls.Patrick Mahomes is 3-2 in Super Bowls.#Bucs are undefeated in Super Bowls. pic.twitter.com/hUzVP6gizV The GOAT debate exists in every sport, sparking endless discussions among fans worldwide.

In soccer, the conversation has long revolved around Lionel Messi, with many acknowledging him as the GOAT. Meanwhile, in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes is on the verge of winning his fourth Super Bowl in just five seasons. Does this put him on the same pedestal as Messi, or does that comparison still belong to Tom Brady? J.J. Watt weighs in. During his conversation with Liverpool FC legend, Jamie Carragher, on the latest episode of ‘It’s Called Soccer,’ Watt gave his opinion on the GOAT debate.

“You are certainly getting to that level of conversation. I think Tom is still the Messi. Tom Brady is still the GOAT. Tom Brady holds that title and he’s going to hold that title. I mean seven rings, everything that he has done.” However, Watt believes that with each Super Bowl victory, Mahomes is inching closer to cementing his place among the all-time greats.

If Mahomes pulls off the historic three-peat, Watt sees him firmly securing the No. 2 spot. And at just 29 years old, with two MVPs already under his belt, he still has plenty of time to further his legacy and make a legitimate run at GOAT status.
