The 2025 NFL season is upon us, with the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles set to host division foes the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, September 4 in the league opener. The preseason gave fans a taste of what to expect from the stars who did don the cleats and participate in the three exhibition games, as well as the rookies and depth players with... Managers looking to compete in their annual league, or those participating for the first time, should do the necessary research to ensure they reach the playoffs and, perhaps, even compete for a league title. .css-wrcrjw{margin:0;font-size:1.6rem;-webkit-text-decoration:none;text-decoration:none;font-family:Proxima Nova,Proxima Nova Fallback Helvetica,Proxima Nova Fallback Arial;font-weight:700;font-style:normal;letter-spacing:0rem;line-height:1.92rem;color:var(--br--palette-foreground__link__secondary__default-mainChannel);font-size:inherit;overflow-wrap:break-word;white-space:normal;}.css-3nqh9c{-webkit-text-decoration:underline;text-decoration:underline;text-decoration-color:rgba(var(--br--palette-primary-mainChannel) / 0.4);margin:0;font-size:1.6rem;-webkit-text-decoration:none;text-decoration:none;font-family:Proxima Nova,Proxima Nova Fallback Helvetica,Proxima Nova Fallback Arial;font-weight:700;font-style:normal;letter-spacing:0rem;line-height:1.92rem;color:var(--br--palette-foreground__link__secondary__default-mainChannel);font-size:inherit;overflow-wrap:break-word;white-space:normal;}.css-3nqh9c:hover{text-decoration-color:inherit;}.css-lu48cp{margin:0;font:inherit;color:var(--br--palette-primary-main);-webkit-text-decoration:underline;text-decoration:underline;text-decoration-color:rgba(var(--br--palette-primary-mainChannel) / 0.4);margin:0;font-size:1.6rem;-webkit-text-decoration:none;text-decoration:none;font-family:Proxima Nova,Proxima Nova Fallback Helvetica,Proxima Nova Fallback Arial;font-weight:700;font-style:normal;letter-spacing:0rem;line-height:1.92rem;color:var(--br--palette-foreground__link__secondary__default-mainChannel);font-size:inherit;overflow-wrap:break-word;white-space:normal;}.css-lu48cp:hover{text-decoration-color:inherit;}ESPN provides printable cheat sheets that are useful sources... In preparation for the countless fantasy drafts that will kick off in the coming days, here is a three-round mock standard league draft, with explanations for the placement of several top, highly recognizable NFL... The 2025 fantasy football season is still several months away, and much will change before draft season is in full swing.
However, with NFL free agency mostly complete, the league’s landscape has shifted, making it a good time to update first- and second-round fantasy draft projections. It’s been two months since my last mock draft. If you’re curious how my rankings have changed, check out the previous one-round mock I did after the 2024 regular season ended in January. Whether to draft a running back or Ja’Marr Chase first depends on your philosophy regarding the position. Wide receivers underwhelmed in 2024, but don’t blame Chase—he was dominant. The Bengals’ WR1 led all non-quarterbacks with 23.7 fantasy points per game and won the WR triple crown, leading in receptions, yards, and receiving touchdowns.
Cincinnati’s defense should improve next year, and Tee Higgins’ return may take some targets away, but Chase remains an elite WR1 with one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. The Atlanta Falcons didn’t take some massive leap forward offensively after moving on from Arthur Smith and Desmond Ridder. Yet, Bijan Robinson still managed to prove he was as good as advertised. You may have noticed that the headline for this article refers to it as an early mock draft, not a “too early” mock draft. Early is good. We’re all hopeless fantasy football junkies, so fantasy content can never arrive “too early.” There’s an insatiable demand for it year-round.
Week 17 ended a few days ago. You’ve had time to celebrate your championship or mourn the end of a disappointing season. It’s time to turn the page. Let’s run through a five-round mock for 2025. We’ll assume it’s for a half-point PPR league where each team is required to start one QB, two RBs, three WRs, one TE and a flex. You’ll disagree with the ordering of some players.
You might disagree with the ordering of a lot of these players. I’ll do my best to explain my reasoning for each selection. Most of the big free-agent moves and trades have already occurred this offseason and you can find all the fantasy analysis here. That leaves just a handful of potential transactions to be made (Aaron Rodgers might be at the top of the list) before the NFL Draft in April. Considering all that, here’s how I see the first five rounds (60 picks) going if I were to hold a fantasy football draft for 2025 or participate in a best ball league right now. This mock draft includes 12 teams and is based on a full PPR scoring system.
Each team is required to start one quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers, one tight end and two flex starters (non-super flex). No kickers or D/STs were required in this mock. Each team went into the draft with a particular strategy in the first three rounds, so you can see how a build begins and ends after 10 picks. For example, Team 7 and Team 10 didn’t take a running back. Others went “old school” and focused on running backs early, while others took a tight end and/or a quarterback higher than the other teams in the draft. I’ve also included the players whose draft value has risen and fallen compared to my previous mock draft, which is based on free-agent signings or trades that have occurred over the last month.
Players who have moved up or down into different rounds are also highlighted in the mock. Breaking News: The fantasy football landscape is shifting! ESPN’s latest coverage reveals key strategies and insights for the 2025 season, from revolutionary league formats to injury concerns and exciting app enhancements.Archyde.com breaks down what you need to know to build a championship-winning... superflex Revolution: Double the Quarterback,Double the Fun Forget the conventional single-QB setup. Fantasy experts are championing the rise of Superflex leagues – a format allowing you to start two quarterbacks each week.
Tristan H.Cockcroft at ESPN highlights how this dramatically alters draft strategy, elevating QB value and creating a more dynamic, engaging experience. Increased Strategic Depth: QB scarcity becomes a major factor, forcing tough decisions and rewarding savvy roster management. Higher Scoring: Two starting QBs naturally lead to more points, creating more exciting matchups. Trade Leverage: Elite quarterbacks become incredibly valuable trade assets. Mitigated Risk: Having a solid backup QB cushions against injuries or poor performances. Rookie Watch: Is Drake Maye a Future Top-10 QB?
Fantasy football's mock draft season will soon give way to the actual drafts themselves. There's still a smattering of time, however, to sneak in a few mocks before the 2025 NFL campaign kicks off. We're here to help you make the most of this process by laying out our top mock draft strategies and providing both cheat sheet rankings and first-round targets. .css-1582m2i{margin:0;font:inherit;font-weight:700;}Run as many mocks as you can. Ever been in a draft room with someone who's such a big fan of their favorite NFL team that they feel compelled to add that club's players in fantasy at an elevated cost? Well, that's an extreme example of the fact that any draft can take an unexpected turn or even serve up surprise selections throughout it.
