How good will Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels be in 2024? Depending on who you ask, many believe Daniels could be in store for a terrific rookie season. ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler said on Saturday he spoke with some of his sources who believe Daniels and the Commanders could be “scary.” “Jayden Daniels, not only did he have a very strong spring by all accounts, there is definitely buzz leaguewide, as I have talked to people this time of year about different players, big-picture items,”... “I’ve talked to multiple scouts and executives who’ve brought up Daniels unprompted, like, ‘Hey, it’s kind of scary what Washington could be with Daniels because he’s got the running ability, but he’s more polished... If they can get that shored up, Daniels could very well take off year one.

That’s the expectation among a lot of people around the league.” Here’s the video, courtesy of X user @obvlon: Jayden Daniels' dislocated elbow was a gruesome end to a harrowing evening at the office in Week 9. The Washington Commanders quarterback has dealt with troubling injuries this season, and questions about in the media. It's way too early to make assumptions one way or the other. Daniels isn't the only player who's been bitten by the injury bug this season, but he is the most important by a considerable margin.

The Commanders haven't placed him on injured reserve after an MRI revealed no ligament damage, but one team insider remained pessimistic about his chances of featuring again in 2025. Washington is allowing Daniels to prove his health. Much will also depend on how the Commanders perform in his absence. If their losing run continues, debates are already raging about whether there would be any point in getting the former LSU phenom involved. John Keim from ESPN weighed in on the subject. The long-time team insider acknowledged that Daniels represented Washington's best chance of getting back into the fight this season.

And unless the Commanders are somehow in the playoff race down the stretch, it seems unlikely that the dynamic signal-caller will feature again. Some fans might not want to admit it, and the Commanders aren't ruling anything out right now. However, there will come a time when realization must hit this organization and its long-suffering fans. This bears more significance if Washington cannot get out of its current slump. The rookie completed 331-of-480 passes (69.0%) for 3,568 yards, 25 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, while posting a 100.1 passer rating. He also rushed for 891 yards and six touchdowns, setting an NFL rookie QB record. Daniels was the only rookie, and the first to ever, combine 3,500+ passing yards with 750+ rushing yards in a single season, guiding Washington to a 12‑5 regular season finish and its first NFC...

That’s more than stats, it’s poise. Jayden Daniels performed under pressure like a veteran. He frequently escaped collapsing pockets, converted third downs, and didn’t blink in clutch spots. That performance earned him both the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year and PFWA Rookie of the Year honors. But strangely enough, Daniels isn’t the biggest reason to buy into this team in 2025. That crown belongs to the linebackers.

ESPN’s Mike Clay wrote, “It was tempting to pick Jayden Daniels and the quarterbacks, but the terrific Bobby Wagner/Frankie Luvu duo is too good to pass up. The duo combined to play 98.2% of Washington’s defensive snaps last season.” The Washington Commanders will have to play without young star quarterback Jayden Daniels during their Week 3 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Unfortunately, he suffered a knee injury during the team's Week 2 loss on Thursday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers. There is some concern about Daniels after suffering the injury due to how much he has been getting hit. Add in the fact that the Commanders have a rough history when it comes to dual-threat quarterbacks, and it gets even more concerning.

Robert Griffin III saw his career completely derailed by injuries during his time with Washington.
