Drake Maye Vs Tom Brady Stats How Patriots Sophomore Qb S Start To
The New England Patriots's dark days appear over. After a pair of 4-13 seasons, the Patriots are not only back to their winning ways, but they are set up to continue winning for years to come because they have a quarterback they... Drake Maye is playing like a superstar, giving New England its first taste of sustained, high-level quarterback play since Tom Brady's time with the franchise ended after the 2019 season. The standard for Maye is not Brady. No one would realistically expect Maye to match Brady's six Super Bowl rings as a Patriot. The numbers, however, line up pretty well when comparing Maye's first two seasons to Brady's first two seasons.
Here's a closer look at how Maye's impressive start to his NFL career compares to Brady. It appears that Drake Maye, or Drake “Drake Maye” Maye as he’s known in New England these days, is that guy. In the Patriots’ 27–14 win over the Jets on Thursday at Gillette Stadium, Maye completed his first 11 pass attempts and didn’t throw an incompletion until there was 3:36 remaining in the first half. He finished the night with 281 yards and one touchdown on 25-of-34 passing, which was more than enough to guide New England to its eighth straight win. Look, it’s way too early to even think about comparing Maye to Tom Brady, arguably the greatest quarterback of all time who won seven Super Bowl titles, and six of those over his Patriots... But the NFL world couldn’t help but highlight a similarity between the two quarterbacks on one particular screenshot of Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football broadcast.

Drake Maye was one of the driving forces behind the first-place Patriots' victory. Maye enjoyed one of the most efficient performances in Patriots franchise history. He became the first New England quarterback to complete at least 90% of his passes in a single game, breaking Tom Brady's previous team record for completion percentage in a single game.
Here's a look at the full stats from Maye's efficient outing against the Titans. Maye had a terrific showing in Sunday's game against the Titans. He logged his sixth consecutive game with at least 200 passing yards and a 100-plus passer rating while throwing just two completions in the Patriots' rout. The New England Patriots came into the 2025 NFL season with the expectation that they had found their quarterback of the future in Drake Maye. Earning a Pro Bowl nod as an alternate in his rookie season, Maye had shown flashes of excellence in his debut campaign. As a result, the organization went all in on trying to build the roster around him to ensure that success could follow in his sophomore season.
Through seven weeks, it is hard to argue that the attempt could have gone any better than it already has. Thanks to some electric performances, he has the Patriots at the top of the AFC East with a 5-2 record, surpassing even the Buffalo Bills with MVP Josh Allen. Earning some MVP buzz of his own, his performance in Week 7 was legitimately history-making as he accomplished a feat that even Tom Brady couldn’t during his time in New England. The statistical production from Maye to begin the year has been unparalleled. After a rough first week performance against the Las Vegas Raiders, he has truly come into his own as an elite talent. In the six games since, he has had a minimum of 200 or more passing yards, with a passer rating above 100.
Against Tennessee, he took that up a notch by registering a passer rating of 135.9, while throwing for 222 yards and two touchdowns. However, it wasn’t the statistical production that truly made Maye stand out above Brady. Instead, he beat the seven-time Super Bowl champion at the thing he was the greatest at: winning. Maye tried to yell out the play call from Josh McDaniels, but his teammates in the huddle couldn’t hear him.
Offensive linemen had to wave their arms, begging the home crowd to quiet down because the “M-V-P” chants were too loud. Maye, fittingly, then promptly threw a beauty of a touchdown to the back of the end zone on a night when, even if his numbers weren’t off the charts, he showed a national audience... Maye has had better games and played in bigger games, but few have done more to boost and validate his MVP stock, given how he shined during the prime-time showcase of a 27-14 “Thursday... Updated on: October 26, 2025 / 6:27 PM EDT / CBS Boston Move over, Tom Brady. Drake Maye is taking over New England.
The quarterback was serenaded with MVP chants from Patriots fans as he helped lead the team to a 32-13 rout of the Cleveland Browns at Gillette Stadium on Sunday. While he has a long way to go to match Brady's success in New England, Maye has already passed the GOAT in the Patriots record book. Maye threw for 286 yards, three touchdowns, and had a passer rating of 135.8 on Sunday. It was the fifth time this season he's had at least 200 passing yards, a 135+ passer rating, and at least two touchdown passes in a game. Having five such games this season has the Patriots at 6-2 on the year, and saw Maye overtake Brady in the New England record book on Sunday. Brady had four such games during his incredible MVP season in 2007.
