It was an impressive bounce-back performance for Maye, who went 19-for-23 for 230 yards passing on 10 yards per attempt.

Maye accounted for three scores, including first-quarter passing touchdowns to Mack Hollins and Kayshon Boutte before a third-quarter rushing touchdown. Turnovers sank the New England Patriots’ chances of beating the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. The offense turned the ball over five times, including twice inside the 10-yard line in the 21-14 loss. Two of the turnovers came at the hands of Rhamondre Stevenson, who fumbled twice. The first came on the Patriots’ first drive of the game, while the second came early in the second half on the goal line with New England trailing by seven. Stevenson has had issues with fumbles throughout his career.

He fumbled seven times in 15 games last season, most by a non-quarterback in the entire NFL. This season, he had yet to fumble, but his two on Sunday proved costly. Quarterback Drake Maye was also responsible for two turnovers. He threw an interception on the goal line when a pass was tipped at the line of scrimmage, and fumbled after holding the ball in the pocket. After the game, Maye remained confident in his teammate. “He’s one of our best players.

There’s nothing he can do that will change my view of him as a player and a teammate,” Maye said. It was a coming out party for New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye in the team's thrilling 23-20 win over the Buffalo Bills. Following the game, with Maye, wide receiver Stefon Diggs and running back Rhamondre Stevenson earning game balls from the broadcast, spoke to NBC's Melissa Stark on the win. Diggs' comments stood out. Sure, it was a big game for the marquee free agent — who spent a couple of seasons as Buffalo's top wideout. Instead, he took his time to deflect any positive praise from his performance (10 catches, 146 receiving yards) and turn it over to his quarterback.

"I'm just so proud of these guys," Diggs said. "His first time on primetime, I can't tell ... the way to bounce back, he's a hell of a player, you know what I'm saying? I'm just happy to be a part of this thing." While it was Maye's career night in Week 5, Diggs was a star in his own right. Playing in his old stadium, the Pro Bowl wide receiver put together another 100-yard performance for the second-straight game, the first time a Patriots player has done that since Julian Edelman did in 2019.

Maye also connected with Stevenson, wide receiver Kayshon Boutte and tight end Hunter Henry for major chunk plays in what was the quarterback's first-career game-winning drive. Mike Vrabel was fired up, and with good reason. Vrabel had just earned his first win as New England Patriots head coach in a city where the team hadn't won since 2019. His squad overcame five lead changes and a fourth-quarter punt return touchdown to earn a gritty, 33-27 victory over the AFC East rival Miami Dolphins.

So, it was no surprise that Vrabel was very animated during his postgame locker room speech at Hard Rock Stadium as he handed out multiple game balls. The New England Patriots‘ Week 11 win against the New York Jets ends with a message to Mike Vrabel from their quarterback, Drake Maye. With running back Rhamomdre Stevenson out with a toe injury, QB Maye made it clear he doesn’t want to change the things that are working for the team with TreVeyon Henderson playing in place... Maye didn’t mince words when asked about the recent rise of the rookie running back. Instead, he delivered a message to keep Henderson in the team. “Honestly, don’t fix it if it ain’t broke. He’s just stepping up,” Maye said about Henderson.

“I think it was a big time for him stepping up, and it’s been great for him to get all these reps, to keep getting these reps. He wants to be great. He’s just showing up every day and asking questions.” A Patriots player getting a game ball spans decades. But Drake Maye decided to put a twist on the tradition on Sunday. After New England’s 31-13 win over the Tennessee Titans, coach Mike Vrabel entered the locker room to give a speech to his team.

As he was about to exit, Maye stepped in and gave his coach the game ball. “Coach Vrabel, we love playing for you,” the quarterback said in a video shared by the Patriots. “Glad you’re our head coach. We love you, coach.” It was an emotional win for Vrabel, who returned to Tennessee for the first time since being fired by the Titans in 2024. “Vra-bel!” chants filled Nissan Stadium at one point.

“I didn’t get that many tickets,” Vrabel said after the game. “I don’t know. But that’s neither here nor there. I’m happy for our players. I think these guys, they’re figuring out how to win. They’re figuring out how to practice.

I guess it’s humbling to have these people want to — whoever that is — cheer for us. Whether that’s the Patriots, or Drake Maye, or me, or anybody else.” FOXBORO — Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson gave himself an ultimatum after fumbling twice in Sunday’s 21-14 loss to the Steelers. It was relayed to Stevenson that head coach Mike Vrabel said, “We need him,” about the veteran running back in his post-game press conference. “If I can’t hold onto the ball, then they don’t need me,” Stevenson said. Stevenson’s two fumbles were only part of five overall giveaways by the Patriots’ offense.

His first fumble came on the Patriots’ first drive on the fourth play of the game. He was stripped by linebacker Cole Holcolmb while getting tackled. Stevenson, who fumbled a league-leading seven times last season, didn’t earn another touch until the second quarter. His next fumble came at a more pivotal moment when the Patriots were trailing 14-7 with 13:17 left in the third quarter at the Steelers’ 2-yard line. Stevenson gained one yard before getting stripped by defensive lineman Cameron Heyward at the 1-yard line. That was his last touch of the game.
