The weekend looks really good! Friday is another WFAA Weather Alert Day. A complex of thunderstorms entered North Texas from Oklahoma Friday morning. The storms weakened as they moved south of the Red River along an approaching cold front. The severe threat and overall impact of this round is much lower compared to what we had on Wednesday. The window of opportunity for the rain is mainly late morning into the afternoon.
Storms will follow south a long a cold front. The Enhanced (level 3 of 5) risk is south of DFW during the afternoon and evening. The main risks with storms for most of North Texas is the potential for up to quarter size hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph. There is a low tornado threat in the enhanced risk (orange or level 3 of 5) area. Drier weather is in the picture for the weekend and Monday. Another chance of showers and thunderstorms with low risk of severe weather returns Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
