The State Superintendent of Public Instruction welcomes the opportunity to meet with education leaders and professionals from across the globe to discuss exciting initiatives happening within the CDE. California Department of Education 1430 N Street Sacramento, CA 95814 916-319-0800 The California Department of Education (CDE) Headquarters is a secure building. Visitors must check-in at the guard station as they enter the building and sign in to receive a temporary badge. The guard will contact the appropriate CDE staff to escort the visitor through the building. Visitors are encouraged to make appointments with staff before visiting the Headquarters building. NOTE: In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, many staff are teleworking and not physically located in the building and many meetings are done virtually at this time.

The City of Sacramento Parking Lots & Garages Web page provides information about parking lots and garages in the downtown area. On-street metered parking is available around the Headquarters building. Information regarding on-street parking options can be found on the City of Sacramento Parking Services Web site . There are various public transit options to travel to Headquarters, including a nearby Light Rail station. Information regarding bus and light rail schedules is available on the Sacramento Regional Transit District Web site . CDE has launched a toolkit of family-facing posters and notecards that communicate assurance of all schools’ obligation to provide every child with access to education and a safe learning environment, regardless of immigration status.

The toolkit also includes information for school officials on what the law now requires when immigration enforcement officials enter school campuses. We encourage all California schools to make these resources visible and accessible to families. Our Schools: Resources for Including Immigrant Families California's State Special Schools provide a supportive, accessible environment and communities for Deaf, DeafBlind, Blind, and Visually Impaired students. We focus on academic excellence, innovation, and extracurricular opportunities to ensure students thrive. The 2024 California School Dashboard is now online!

The Dashboard is a key component of the state’s school accountability system, which includes the latest data on graduation rates, suspension rates, test scores, English Learner progress, college/career indicator, chronic absenteeism, and local indicators. It is available in five languages and can be accessed on a mobile device. We oversee the state's diverse public school system, which is responsible for the education of more than 6,000,000 children and young adults in more than 10,000 schools with 300,000 teachers. We are in charge of enforcing education law and regulations and continuing to reform and improve public school programs.
