CLSS is a web-based tool for departments to review, submit, and maintain their Schedule of Classes. The software also has several tools which will help administrators create optimal schedules for students. Please send any questions, problems, issues, or concerns regarding CLSS to scheduling@utah.edu. Due to proprietary restrictions, all reference materials are required to be posted on a secure university site. All documents will be hosted on the Canvas CLSS User Group Site. Employees requesting access to view or make changes in CLSS will need to fill out the CLSS Security Form.

The Asia Campus Spring 2026 Academic Calendar has been updated to accommodate a new start date for classes in accordance with the Lunar New Year. Please review the new dates to ensure compliance with the updated dates and deadlines that were published in June 2025. Effective Fall 2025, the Academic Senate has approved a new grading deadline for all University of Utah Main Campus and UOnline Campus programs.

Available reports include Upcoming Term Course Demand Planning Tool, Course Catalog Term Report, Course Fill Rate By Course Level, and Enrollment Below Fill Capacity. If you get an error when attempting to load any of these reports and would like to request access, please email luis.oquendo@utah.edu. Navigate to the online class schedule for a particular term. Select desired subject code. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Seating availability for all DEPT classes”. Shows all published class information, including class enrollment capacities, number of students on wait list, number of students currently enrolled, and seats available. No security access required.
Class Demand Report (Requires Security Access), Login to CIS and search for Class Demand Report. Best use for current term/live enrollments. Report will show number of students with class in shopping cart, on wait list, currently enrolled, size of current room assignment to determine if capacity could be increased. Ability to email students on waiting list/in shopping cart. Cross compare sections to monitor/adjust enrollment capacities. To find sections meeting certain criteria you can run the following filters in CLSS (Requires Security Access).
These filters can be updated and saved each term for easy access. Filtered information can be exported into Excel for distribution or analysis. Permission numbers can override multiple requirements. Requirements include: Some permission numbers can also override: Yes, if a student uses a permission code that does not override Closed Class, they can use the permission number while also using the waitlist for a class.
To register for undergraduate business courses, students who are pursuing a major, minor, or certificate through the David Eccles School of Business must follow the steps below. For additional information, students should consult the Office of the Registrar’s registration tutorials. Students can enroll themselves via CIS if: The University of Utah utilizes a wait list feature for some courses. This feature allows eligible students to add their names to an electronic wait list* if a course is full. If the waitlist feature is NOT available: All undergraduate courses in the Eccles School have the wait list feature except: Before you can register for classes, you will need to complete the mandatory registration with the State, attend a mandatory orientation session and complete the Liability Waiver requirement by the U. Student must meet all the pre-requisites required by the courses in which they wish to enroll. A registration link will be send to student who complete all the requirements. Once a student is officially enrolled and committed to attend class, they must officially drop their classes by the deadline or they may be charged full tuition and receive a failing grade.
Students may officially withdraw from a class or all classes after the drop deadline. A “W” grade is recorded on the transcript. Academic Standards are grade point average (GPA) requirements and academic standings for undergraduate students. Based on a student's GPA, these academic standings are set and managed by the Academic Advising Center. Students may repeat any course taken previously at the University of Utah as long as it is still offered. Students who repeat a course must register for the course and pay tuition. Hours earned in repeated courses count toward graduation requirements only once. The last grade received is used to compute your grade point average.
The grade I, NC, W, V, and T do not qualify for removal of previous grades. All but the last class is identified as a repeated course on your academic record. The Office of the Registrar runs an end of term process after grades have been reported for the term to post repeats for undergraduate students. Check your unofficial transcript or degree audit report to confirm the removal of the prior grade(s) from calculating into the grade point average. If the grade point average has not been recalculated, you may report repeated courses online via Campus Information Services by completing the repeated class notification form on the Student Homepage in the Academic Records... Please note that the University of Utah has modified some course numbers, departmental prefixes and titles to provide greater consistency with courses at other Utah state schools.
Cross-listed courses are subject to the repeated course policy and will reflect appropriately on your academic record. The Registrar’s Office reserves the right to adjust your record whenever a repeated course has not been recorded. This process does not apply to courses that may be taken more than once for credit.
