(AP Photo/Gene J. Puskar) The Buffalo Bills opened their 2025 season with one of the most unforgettable comebacks in NFL history. They stunned the Baltimore Ravens 41-40 at Highmark Stadium. Down 15 points in the fourth quarter, Josh Allen and the Bills refused to fold. Allen finished with 394 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and two rushing scores.
Once again proving why he’s one of the league’s most electrifying quarterbacks. The turning point came late in the game when Ravens running back Derrick Henry. The team that had been dominant with 169 rushing yards and two touchdowns lost a costly fumble. The Bills capitalized, scoring three times in the final four minutes. With the game hanging in the balance, veteran kicker Matt Prater nailed a 32-yard walk-off field goal as time expired. The field goal sealed the 41-40 victory.
It was a finish for the age. This also marked the first time in league history a game ended with that final score, a true “Scorigami.” The Ravens had plenty of bright spots, including Lamar Jackson’s three total touchdowns and Henry’s bruising ground game. However, late mistakes and a defensive meltdown cost them dearly. Adding to the drama, a fan smacked Jackson’s helmet, prompting an emotional shove in return before the fan was ejected. Barnes/The Associated Press Josh Allen had a message to the few thousands fans – and perhaps the entire NFL, for that matter – who left the stadium early to beat the traffic on Sunday night. “Our team didn’t quit,” Allen said, his voice almost hoarse after rallying the Bills from a 15-point deficit in the final four minutes to a thrilling season-opening 41-40 win over the Baltimore Ravens. “I think there’s people who left the stadium. That’s OK. We’ll be fine.
But have some faith next time.” Allen refused to let up in scoring two touchdowns and throwing another – with Keon Coleman catching a tipped pass in the end zone – in a frantic fourth quarter alone. The NFL’s reigning MVP then capped the win by overseeing a nine-play, 66-yard drive over the final 86 seconds in setting up Matt Prater’s 32-yard field goal as time expired. ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills kicker Matt Prater approached quarterback Josh Allen in the locker room before the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night. "[Prater] just said, 'Hey, I promise you I'm going to give you everything I got tonight,'" Allen recalled after the game. Prater told Allen that though it might not be perfect right away, "I'm going to do everything I can to try to be perfect to help." Prater, 41, joined the team Thursday morning after... Perfect? With just 7:27 remaining in the fourth quarter and the Buffalo Bills facing a 15-point deficit to the Baltimore Ravens, the atmosphere in Highmark Stadium was tense. By the time the clock hit triple zeros, the crowd erupted as kicker Matt Prater nailed a 32-yard field goal to complete a remarkable comeback and secure Buffalo a 41-40 win over the Ravens... Buffalo's final opening win in Highmark Stadium came as a result of a masterful fourth quarter from all three phases. Though the defense struggled to contain the explosive Ravens offense for much of the contest, it stood tall when it mattered most in Baltimore's final two drives. While the offense wasn't perfect, going 0-for-3 on two-point conversions, reigning MVP quarterback Josh Allen led four scoring drives in the fourth quarter.
Allen finished with 394 passing yards and four total touchdowns, two on the ground and two in the air. Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills mounted a 15-point comeback over the final four minutes of regulation to stun the Baltimore Ravens on "Sunday Night Football" in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season. The Bills scored on each of their final three drives to win the 41-40 shootout. They capped the miraculous comeback with a 32-yard field goal by 41-year-old kicker Matt Prater, who had replaced the injured Tyler Bass earlier in the week. Allen was the driving force behind the comeback. He passed for 167 yards over the final three drives and accounted for two touchdowns, one through the air and one on the ground.
He finished the game with 394 passing yards and two touchdowns in addition to 30 yards and two scores on the ground. The Ravens appeared to be in control for most of the game thanks to the excellence of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. The duo combined for 239 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns while Jackson added 210 yards and two touchdowns through the air. However, Henry had a key fumble on the Ravens' penultimate possession that set the Bills up for their final touchdown. He and Jackson couldn't get a first down on Baltimore's final possession, which would have given it a chance to run the clock out on Buffalo.
