Browns 7 Round Mock Draft No Surprise At The Top But Knocking Out Big
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The first round of the NFL Draft is finally less than a month away and the countdown is on to finally figure out who the Browns will take at No. 2 overall. It also means mock draft season is close to ending, so it’s time to squeeze these things in. I did one post-Combine and now, a few weeks later, it’s time to update things. I’m using MockDraftDatabase.com for today’s mock and I’m not cheating the system. If I miss a player, I miss him and there’s no going back.
Remember the rule: If you think it’s crazy a player is available where I took him, blame the simulator. I have concerns about Sanders and would prefer Cam Ward, but it seems like the Titans are gearing up to take Ward at No. 1. If Ward falls to No. 2, it’s a no-doubt pick. The Cleveland Browns currently own the fourth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft following their loss to the New York Jets, along with the 19th selection courtesy of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
In this seven-round mock draft, the team takes a swing at a franchise quarterback and spend their first six picks on offensive players. We'll be using NFL Mock Draft Database's simulator for this mock, and the rule is that for each selection, a player must be ranked at or below ten spots higher than the pick slot... This is to create some level of intrigue and variety with each selection, but to also add some degree of reality. Simpson's physical traits will be under scrutiny throughout the pre-draft process, as teams try to determine how high of a selection he is truly worth. However, his performance this year his difficult to argue with, as he's displayed excellent efficiency, throwing 21 touchdowns to only one interception. He's not elite in any area, but he's solid in just about all of them.
He has enough arm strength to make all the throws, accuracy to fit the ball into NFL windows, solid athletic ability to manuever around within the pocket and to create outside of it, and... Simpson is a one-year starter, which is certainly concerning, but the fact that he'll end up having a larger sample size to work with due to the College Football Playoff is a positive. He has a great chance this weekend to further solidify his stock, as the Crimson Tide face a top-10 defense in the Oklahoma Sooners. Simpson may not have the natural talent of a typical top QB prospect, but he's played great football this year, and if the Browns aren't picking first overall, they may not have much of... Billing Simpson as "better than nothing" is selling him short - he's a good prospect with an NFL future. Whether or not he's a true top-five prospect remains to be seen.
The Browns need the Jaguars to continue losing games, otherwise, picking in the 18-22 range isn't going to land then a top offensive tackle or wide receiver prospect. With Jordyn Tyson, Carnell Tate, and Makai Lemon off the board, Denzel Boston from Washington is the next man up. Standing 6-foot-4 209 pounds, he towers over the rest of Cleveland's WR room, offering them size they haven't had in a long time. He uses his frame to his advantage, hauling in 18 of 31 contested catches over the past two years. He's got 730 yards and eight scores on 52 grabs this season, including a 153-yard outburst against Illinois. The Cleveland Browns, in many ways, are going to end up deciding the fate of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Holding the second overall pick, they have a chance to remake their franchise in an instant by adding a quarterback right at the top. Or, they could choose to be more patient with their retooling by bringing on either of the best players in the draft: Penn State’s Abdul Carter or Colorado’s Travis Hunter. Remember, the Browns recently traded for quarterback Kenny Pickett, then signed quarterback Joe Flacco in free agency. Here’s what the latest mock draft from PFSN anticipates they will do in Green Bay, Wisc. PFSN’s Ian Cummings cut to the chase and went best available in his latest mock draft. “Next to a QB, the Cleveland Browns’ biggest need is more playmaking talent.
There’s arguably no QB worth taking at No. 2, and Andrew Berry has said he views Travis Hunter as a WR first,” Cummings said. The Cleveland Browns finished 2024 with a 3-14 record. Their scoring offense was the worst in the league (15.2 points per game), and their scoring defense was 27th (25.6 points per game allowed). They continued to be let down by quarterback Deshaun Watson (1-6 with a 79 passer rating). The only bright spot was the play of edge rusher Myles Garrett (14 sacks and a 92.3 PFF grade).
Cleveland has 10 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, including five in the first four rounds (starting with the second overall pick). They have a number of glaring holes, and even the best picks in every round won’t help this team make the playoffs. With a lot of luck, this is a two-year rebuild. Here is a full 7 round mock draft, with what the team should do each pick (no trades allowed). The biggest need for the Browns right now is quarterback, but with Cam Ward expected to go first overall, that leaves Shedeur Sanders, and his dad is not gonna let him play for Cleveland. The Browns will make a move for the best player on the board, and that will be Travis Hunter, Ashton Jeanty, or Abdul Carter.
While the team does need a bookend to go with Garrett, Hunter fills two holes on the team. Cedric Tillman is their current number two receiver (63.6 PFF grade – 75th in the league), and Denzel Ward is their best corner (68.4 PFF grade – 61st in the league). Hunter projects as Richard Sherman on defense and Jakobi Meyers on offense, which would adequately fill needs at both positions. The entire offensive line needs upgrades in Cleveland, but especially the middle of it. Joel Bitonio is 33, and Wyatt Teller is 30. Neither one was in the top 50 for PFF grades given to guards in 2024.
With he 33rd pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, they grab Grey Zabel out of North Dakota State. Ah, the Browns. No other NFL team has a lower projected win total from the oddsmakers, with Cleveland's 2025 over-under at 4.5 wins and a massive, fully guaranteed contract still owed to injured QB Deshaun Watson. Kevin Stefanski will be coaching with his job on the line in 2025 and there are positional needs all over, including at quarterback. Cleveland has 10 picks, one short of the NFL high entering the draft, but five of them are in the sixth and seventh rounds. So it might make sense to consolidate and use any of the four sixth-rounders to move up a bit.
We won't project trades in this mock, but if the Browns pass on a quarterback at No. 2 overall, we could definitely see them packaging picks to move up from No. 33 and get back into the first round for a passer, especially if the right one falls past the Steelers at No. 21. First round, second overall: CB/WR Travis Hunter, Colorado It has been a long and painful search for the Browns, trying to land a franchise quarterback, and Baker Mayfield's success in Tampa only adds to the frustration of a terrible decision to invest...
Even with all that, this isn't a great year for quarterbacks, so the Browns take a surer thing in Hunter, that rare athlete who can help on both sides of the ball. He'll probably have a bigger impact on defense, where he can step in as a corner bookend with Denzel Ward, but Cleveland sorely needs help at receiver, so even in a moonlighting role, Hunter... RELATED: Travis Hunter on if NFL team forces him to play one way: 'Never playing football again' Complications with Deshaun Watson’s recovery from an Achilles injury have seemingly opened the door for the Cleveland Browns to consider selecting a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, that’s just one of several key concerns for Cleveland, as holes remain on both sides of the ball.
With limited flexibility in free agency, the Browns will likely rely on their draft capital to address multiple needs, including offensive tackle, cornerback and wide receiver. Ward has all the physical tools to succeed as an NFL quarterback and thrives on deep throws. His 29 big-time throws on passes of 20-plus yards in 2024 ranked second in the nation, as did his 131.5 NFL passer rating on those attempts. While not a first-round-caliber athlete, Amos has the size and physicality to thrive at the next level as a man coverage corner. His ball production was elite in 2024, as he tallied three interceptions and an impressive 15 forced incompletions for Ole Miss. Neal is a versatile back who excels as both a runner and receiver.
Over the past two seasons at Kansas, he forced a combined 127 missed tackles on runs and receptions. The 2025 NFL season is already more than halfway over. There are only a few weeks remaining in the college football regular season. What does that mean? It's time to look ahead to the 2026 NFL Draft.Yes, the NFL Draft might still be several months away, but the NFL season is already effectively over for many franchises. The one place where there will always be hope for every NFL team is the NFL Draft, so it's time to check in on some of the most talented players who could change your...
Which teams will be picking early? Could there be a trade up for the first overall pick this year? All those questions will be answered with this mock draft today. Enjoy! The best current odds to land the number one overall selection rest with the Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, and the Las Vegas Raiders The three most likely players to be selected first overall via current betting odds are all quarterbacks: Ty Simpson (Alabama), Fernando Mendoza (Indiana), and Dante Moore (Oregon) although Moore likely returns to school
The highest odds to go first overall for non-QBs are all defensive players: Rueben Bain Jr. (EDGE, Miami), Arvell Reese (LB, Ohio State), and Keldric Faulk (EDGE, Auburn) The Tennessee Titans are falling apart and regardless of their remaining schedule likely end up with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft. If that happens then QB needy teams like the Browns, Saints, Jets, and Raiders will be scrambling to get atop the 2026 NFL Draft board to select Fernando Mendoza (QB, Indiana). This class initially looked like it might be a good group at quarterback, but that's definitely not the case now. This 2026 NFL Draft class is now essentially just Fernando Mendoza, Ty Simpson, and then everyone else far below them.
Mendoza has put together the most impressive 2025 season in the country with elite marks in passer rating, adjusted yards per play, EPA per play, and more. He now has three years of experience and consistent progression that proves he's the easy QB1 for this upcoming draft. The Browns have the ammunition to trade up, so in this mock draft that's exactly what they do, but it costs them both of their 2026 first round picks (and likely then some) to...
