Read Slowly - Take Notes - Apply the Ideas We've had a great first year with The Read Well Book Club. We've read a wide range from Charles Dickens to Seneca the Stoic, and built a quiet online spot without the usual ads and distractions. It's become a great place to make friends who love books as much as you do.
Thinking about joining? Take a look at our reading schedule for the next year (June 2024 to June 2025) below. We've got 10 books lined up for season 2. There's a small fee of $9 a month to join plus the cost of your books. I've also set up a 30-day free trial if you're interested. This helps cover my costs for software and virtual meeting tools.
Plus, you'll know you're supporting a community that values reading slowly, taking notes, and applying the ideas. 200,000 readers connected annually! Add your book group. Looking to start or join a book club? Welcome! We're a book club networking site with listings for local groups, author events, and phone chats.
View map of book clubs. You'll note in our database that a number of listings are for 'reader's circles.' These are a new kind of book group where people attend with whatever they're reading. The only structure is if participants decide to have an 'optional book.' Otherwise, everyone just brings their own books, articles, magazines, and conversation goes from there. The idea is to loosen the usual format so participants can select their own reading and attend even if they're still in the middle of a book. Conversation inevitably covers the books brought and many other subjects as well. Reader's Circle seeks to renew the spirit of dialogue that animated the coffeehouses of early modern England and the salons of Enlightenment France.
Franklin's Junto and the Lyceums of the 19th century also suggest the tone of American life we hope to facilitate. Unlike some .org’s, which may in fact be for-profit businesses, Reader’s Circle is the real thing. All donations are used to support our mission: to build an inclusive community, the reading public brought together as a body instead of existing merely as an abstraction. October marks the THIRD anniversary of the #ChronicallyIconicBookClub and I’m here to share our next reads! Due to the never-ending complications of my chronic illness and work/life balance, we’ve decided to try meeting every other month instead of monthly. We will be discussing each of these books via Instagram group chat. Everyone is welcome so please DM me on Instagram or comment below if you’d like to join us! We also have a general group chat for random book chats and updates that you’re welcome to join as well. It’s that time again!
