We also outline clear benefits – including speed, scalability, improved peer-review efficiency, and better support for journalists and policymakers seeking reliable information. However, AI-driven fact-checking has important limitations and risks. These include dependence on biased training data, difficulties with nuanced or contested topics, false positives and false negatives, and ethical issues around privacy, academic freedom and responsibility.
