After Anti Trump Protests Sweep The Nation Curfew Begins In Downtown
Following four days of escalating protests that defaced landmarks and damaged property in downtown L.A., Mayor Karen Bass imposed a regional curfew on Tuesday in an effort to restore order. The curfew is in place from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. across most of downtown Los Angeles. The curfew footprint is from the 5 Freeway to the 110 Freeway and from the 10 Freeway to where the 110 and 5 freeways merge. The remainder of the city is not subject to the curfew.
There are limited exceptions to the curfew for those living and working in downtown L.A., credentialed members of the media, law enforcement and emergency personnel. Bass said that she expects the curfew to remain in place for several days and will consult with law enforcement and elected leaders before lifting it. She said it was necessary to curb the actions of “bad actors who do not support the immigrant community.” Jake Offenhartz, Associated Press Jake Offenhartz, Associated Press Jaimie Ding, Associated Press Jaimie Ding, Associated Press Lolita C.

Mayor Karen Bass says curfew for part of downtown area in effect from 8pm on Tuesday to 6am on Wednesday. Los Angeles police have made arrests after a curfew took effect in part of the United States’s second-largest city amid continuing protests against President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said late on Tuesday that “mass arrests” were under way as people gathered within the designated downtown curfew area. “Multiple groups continue to congregate on 1st St between Spring and Alameda,” the LAPD wrote on X. “Those groups are being addressed and mass arrests are being initiated. Curfew is in effect.” Later, many of the protesters had dispersed, although sporadic confrontations continued. Officials said the curfew was necessary to stop vandalism and theft by agitators looking to cause trouble.
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- President Trump is calling for even more expanded deportation operations in several major cities across the country, including Los Angeles. Trump in a social media posting called on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials "to do all in their power to achieve the very important goal of delivering the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History." The moves comes after large protests erupted in L.A. and other major cities against the Trump administration's immigration policies. So far, it's not known how exactly that will impact L.A.
But Sunday, at the president's directions, the Department of Homeland Security said it would pause most raids on farms, restaurants and hotels. The Trump administration has continued widespread immigration enforcement activities -- with a reported goal of up to 3,000 deportations per day. Los Angeles police said "mass arrests" were underway as people gathered on downtown streets after an overnight curfew went into effect following days of protests against immigration enforcement raids. California Governor Gavin Newsom earlier took legal action against President Donald Trump's mobilisation of National Guard troops and Marines to quell the protests.
