In a draft filled with polarizing talents, few prospects drum up more dissenting opinion than Alabama star Jalen Milroe.

Some believe the 22-year old is destined for greatness, lured by his A+ athleticism and physical traits. Others find the lack of refinement in Milroe's throwing game to be unbecoming of a first-round prospect. Milroe, much like Anthony Richardson and Josh Allen before him, comes into the NFL Draft an enigma. The gifts are hard to ignore. But so too are the errors. In the end, the need for solid quarterbacking might trump all other doubts about Milroe.

For what it's worth, there are a bevy of teams that, for one reason or another, could offer pathways for Milroe's success. Whether those teams make the Crimson Tide stalwart their first round pick is a different question. A four-star recruit out of Texas who redshirted in 2021 after playing sparingly over four games, Jalen Milroe started one out of eight games played the following year, throwing five touchdowns and rushing for... Milroe took over as the team’s starter in 2023 after Bryce Young left for the NFL, bringing Alabama to the National Championship game in an 11-2 campaign. He threw for 2,834 yards (65.8%), 23 touchdowns and six interceptions that season with a 161-531-12 rushing line in now-Browns offensive coordinator Tommy Rees’ offense. This past year, Milroe went 9-4 and posted 2,844 passing yards (64.3%), with 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, with a 168-726-20 rushing line in Kalen DeBoer’s offense. A productive two-year starter and winner for a major program.

A sturdily-built quarterback who has proven his durability over the past two seasons. Light on his feet in the pocket, with a sufficiently wide base at the top of his drops. Has excellent athleticism, but is happy to work from the pocket while it’s there. Shows the ability to play with rhythm and get the ball out quickly on predetermined reads underneath. Milroe was asked to work through progressions and showed good patience in scanning for targets. His release is relatively quick, and the ball leaps out of his hand.

Has plenty of arm talent to make all the throws, with impressive zip on the ball; can get it there with his arm strength alone when working in a messy pocket. Gets good air underneath his sideline shots.
