2026 nfl mock draft surprise at no 1 pick as first round order msn

There's a misconception floating around about the 2026 NFL Draft. Before this college season kicked off, Texas' Arch Manning, South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers and LSU's Garrett Nussmeier were widely viewed as the top eligible quarterback prospects. Those three haven't quite met the early expectations, which has some people jumping to the conclusion that this is a "weak" QB class. In reality, the rise of Indiana's Fernando Mendoza (my QB1 back in May), Alabama's Ty Simpson and Oregon's Dante Moore has reshaped the board. All three still have remaining eligibility and could theoretically return to school in 2026, but in today's thought exercise, they come off the board quickly -- just not at No. 1 overall.

Four teams enter the first round with multiple picks, while just as many have none. The Browns and Rams dealt away theirs in separate draft-day moves a year ago, and the Jets and Cowboys moved on from Quinnen Williams and Micah Parsons, respectively. To set the stage, here are the current odds to be the No. 1 overall pick (via FanDuel Sportsbook). Reminder: This is the current NFL draft order after Week 10 (via Tankathon). The 2025 NFL season is already more than halfway over.

There are only a few weeks remaining in the college football regular season. What does that mean? It's time to look ahead to the 2026 NFL Draft.Yes, the NFL Draft might still be several months away, but the NFL season is already effectively over for many franchises. The one place where there will always be hope for every NFL team is the NFL Draft, so it's time to check in on some of the most talented players who could change your... Which teams will be picking early? Could there be a trade up for the first overall pick this year?

All those questions will be answered with this mock draft today. Enjoy! The best current odds to land the number one overall selection rest with the Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, and the Las Vegas Raiders The three most likely players to be selected first overall via current betting odds are all quarterbacks: Ty Simpson (Alabama), Fernando Mendoza (Indiana), and Dante Moore (Oregon) although Moore likely returns to school The highest odds to go first overall for non-QBs are all defensive players: Rueben Bain Jr. (EDGE, Miami), Arvell Reese (LB, Ohio State), and Keldric Faulk (EDGE, Auburn)

The Tennessee Titans are falling apart and regardless of their remaining schedule likely end up with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft. If that happens then QB needy teams like the Browns, Saints, Jets, and Raiders will be scrambling to get atop the 2026 NFL Draft board to select Fernando Mendoza (QB, Indiana). This class initially looked like it might be a good group at quarterback, but that's definitely not the case now. This 2026 NFL Draft class is now essentially just Fernando Mendoza, Ty Simpson, and then everyone else far below them. Mendoza has put together the most impressive 2025 season in the country with elite marks in passer rating, adjusted yards per play, EPA per play, and more. He now has three years of experience and consistent progression that proves he's the easy QB1 for this upcoming draft.

The Browns have the ammunition to trade up, so in this mock draft that's exactly what they do, but it costs them both of their 2026 first round picks (and likely then some) to... My wife, stepdaughter and I alternate who gets to decorate the Christmas tree every year. Two years ago it was a celebration of Taylor Swift and her many illustrious eras. Last year, my wife created a shrine to the seminal 1990s movie “Clueless.” This holiday season we’re going with a 7½-foot animated Chewbacca in a Santa hat. Nothing roars Christmas cheer like Chewy holding a giant candy cane.

If only ugly Christmas sweaters came in Wookiee sizes. I imagine this year’s “airing of grievances” during Festivus will be Star Wars-themed as well. The Titans could use more blocking protection for Cam Ward. The 6-foot-6, 310-pound Fano has a lot of talent and has played well at tackle for the Utes. He has been a versatile tackle with 11 starts at left tackle and 13 at right tackle heading into the 2025 season. For the most part, Fano played on the left side in 2023 and on the right side in 2024.

Fano is fast, athletic, and plays with a mean streak. He is a force as a run blocker and shows a lot of athleticism to take away speed rushers. A lot of teams could fall in love with his tape. Unless Tyler Shough impresses over the final two months of the season, New Orleans will be looking for a true franchise quarterback. Simpson has been phenomenal in 2025, leading the Crimson Tide to some big wins against tough opponents. In 2025, Simpson has completed 67 percent of his passes for 2,461 yards with 21 touchdowns, an interception, and two rushing touchdowns.

Simpson has shown some serious arm talent, making some beautiful throws downfield with superb ball placement to beat tight coverage. In tight games, Simpson made some great passes to lead his team to wins over Georgia and Missouri. Simpson is accurate, smart, has a strong arm, and throws with timing and anticipation. Simpson has shown superb ball security this season as well, with excellent decision-making. The Giants grab a right tackle to help protect Jaxson Dart. The 6-foot-8, 309-pounder World dominated at Nevada, and if he plays as well at Oregon, he could skyrocket for the 2025 NFL Draft.

As a pass blocker, World has a natural build with good size, strength, and length to play on the edge. He does a nice job of sinking his weight to stop bull rushes, and he shows an impressive ability to kill speed to power attempts. World does an excellent job of sustaining his blocks with the upper body strength to tie up defenders. In the ground game, World uses his strong upper body to knock defenders back and push them around. He has real power at the point of attack and blocks with a mean streak. With overwhelming mass, he can knock defenders flat on their backs and will bury them with a violent pancake block.

The Browns take their next hope for a franchise quarterback. Mendoza has completed 71 percent of his passes for 2,342 yards with 26 touchdowns and five interceptions. He has two rushing touchdowns as well. The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder has a quality arm, reads the field well, makes good decisions, and has dangerous pocket passing ability. Mendoza played well for Cal in 2024. He completed 69 percent of his passes for 3,004 yards with 16 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Mendoza has good size, and it will be interesting to see how he develops at Indiana. The Jets grab a franchise quarterback to build around. Moore has been a dynamic point-producer for the Ducks in 2025, making plays with his arm and legs. In 2025, Moore has completed 71 percent of his passes for 1,884 yards with 19 touchdowns and five interceptions. Moore (6-3, 203) is a dangerous quarterback who is tough to defend. He has shown impressive arm talent and feel as a passer.

Moore throws some beautiful deep balls and shows impressive composure and poise for a young player. The NFL regular season is halfway over and the trade deadline is behind us. Big names were moved in the final hours of deadline day. New York Jets stars Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams were dealt to Indianapolis and Dallas, respectively, as the team goes for an overhaul. Smaller deals saw wide receivers Rashid Shaheed and Jakobi Meyers sent to Seattle and Jacksonville, respectively. Those were the last moves teams could make for the regular season.

The biggest moves from here on out have to wait until the offseason - including the NFL Draft. The 2026 NFL Draft features a mix of talent at positions, namely linebacker, wide receiver and defensive line. The quarterback class isn't as good as hoped but still offers multiple first-round talents, including at the top of Round 1. As the dust settles from the trade deadline, how have things changed in our latest mock draft? Here's a new prediction for the first round with the order from Tankathon:
