2026 nfl mock draft new 2 round projections with big qb changes msn

Believe it or not, we’re already halfway through the 2025 NFL season. That means, with the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday (November 4), we’re fully entering 2026 NFL Draft season. Even though we here at NFL Spin Zone have been in 2026 NFL Draft mode since the Spring, but that’s neither here nor there. Now, we have actual on-field results to react to, and needs are becoming clearer every single week for even some of the best teams in the league. In this 2026 NFL Mock Draft, we’re going to take a look at not only the first round but the first two rounds of the draft and project where some of the top prospects... This 2026 NFL mock draft features a bunch of quarterbacks going within the top 20 picks, and a surprise player jumping all the way into the top two overall.

We’ve got a lot to unpack, so let’s get right to it. There is no question that the New Orleans Saints are on the cusp of anointing a new franchise quarterback. We’ve already seen them bench Spencer Rattler in favor of second-round rookie Tyler Shough, and obviously, that’s the first step toward potentially using next year’s top pick at the position. We’ll see what Shough can do for the rest of this season, but barring something miraculous, the top pick should be a new QB. And Fernando Mendoza has been exactly as advertised this season. One of the hottest risers in the 2026 NFL Draft process right now is Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, who went from being an intriguing potential Day 2 selection to the betting favorite as the...

There’s obviously plenty of competition for the QB1 distinction at this point in the process, but Simpson has done his part to make a case this season, and the Jets need a fresh start... The Justin Fields investment did not work out. The Titans could use more blocking protection for Cam Ward. The 6-foot-6, 310-pound Fano has a lot of talent and has played well at tackle for the Utes. He has been a versatile tackle with 11 starts at left tackle and 13 at right tackle heading into the 2025 season. For the most part, Fano played on the left side in 2023 and on the right side in 2024.

Fano is fast, athletic, and plays with a mean streak. He is a force as a run blocker and shows a lot of athleticism to take away speed rushers. A lot of teams could fall in love with his tape. Unless Tyler Shough impresses over the final two months of the season, New Orleans will be looking for a true franchise quarterback. Simpson has been phenomenal in 2025, leading the Crimson Tide to some big wins against tough opponents. In 2025, Simpson has completed 67 percent of his passes for 2,461 yards with 21 touchdowns, an interception, and two rushing touchdowns.

Simpson has shown some serious arm talent, making some beautiful throws downfield with superb ball placement to beat tight coverage. In tight games, Simpson made some great passes to lead his team to wins over Georgia and Missouri. Simpson is accurate, smart, has a strong arm, and throws with timing and anticipation. Simpson has shown superb ball security this season as well, with excellent decision-making. The Giants grab a right tackle to help protect Jaxson Dart. The 6-foot-8, 309-pounder World dominated at Nevada, and if he plays as well at Oregon, he could skyrocket for the 2025 NFL Draft.

As a pass blocker, World has a natural build with good size, strength, and length to play on the edge. He does a nice job of sinking his weight to stop bull rushes, and he shows an impressive ability to kill speed to power attempts. World does an excellent job of sustaining his blocks with the upper body strength to tie up defenders. In the ground game, World uses his strong upper body to knock defenders back and push them around. He has real power at the point of attack and blocks with a mean streak. With overwhelming mass, he can knock defenders flat on their backs and will bury them with a violent pancake block.

The Browns take their next hope for a franchise quarterback. Mendoza has completed 71 percent of his passes for 2,342 yards with 26 touchdowns and five interceptions. He has two rushing touchdowns as well. The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder has a quality arm, reads the field well, makes good decisions, and has dangerous pocket passing ability. Mendoza played well for Cal in 2024. He completed 69 percent of his passes for 3,004 yards with 16 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Mendoza has good size, and it will be interesting to see how he develops at Indiana. The Jets grab a franchise quarterback to build around. Moore has been a dynamic point-producer for the Ducks in 2025, making plays with his arm and legs. In 2025, Moore has completed 71 percent of his passes for 1,884 yards with 19 touchdowns and five interceptions. Moore (6-3, 203) is a dangerous quarterback who is tough to defend. He has shown impressive arm talent and feel as a passer.

Moore throws some beautiful deep balls and shows impressive composure and poise for a young player. For the football obsessed, the expression "It’s the most wonderful time of the year," is not so much a reflection about the holidays as it is about mock drafts. They're like Thanksgiving meals — we seemingly can’t get enough of them. So, shortly after releasing a traditional first-round mock draft, we thought it would be worthwhile to identify each team's most glaring holes as well as strong prospect fits to fill them. With two clubs emerging as legitimate contenders for the No. 1 pick, the AFC East felt like the perfect starting point to kick off the series.

Here are early projections for the entire division's selections on Days 1 and 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft. First round, No. 3 overall pick: Fernando Mendoza, QB, Indiana The Jets’ decision to trade cornerback Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams to load up on draft picks suggests that the club is willing to undergo a complete roster rebuild. Perhaps that will allow New York to package picks to trade for a veteran quarterback, with intriguing candidates such as Kyler Murray and divisional rival Tua Tagovailoa thought to be potentially available this offseason. Should Jets general manager Darren Mougey take the more conventional approach, Mendoza’s inspirational play at Indiana could make him the first quarterback off the board this year.

His dual-threat ability would make him an intriguing fit in the offense that head coach Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand have used with incumbent starter Justin Fields this season. The NFL trade deadline shocked the sports world on Tuesday. Now it is time to pick up the pieces and move forward. The New York Jets traded two of their defensive stars, waiving the white flag on the 2025 season and turning their attention to the future. How might that impact what we see next spring in the 2026 NFL Draft? Let’s answer that question and more with a mock draft.

Regarding the draft order, this mock draft uses the current draft order based on NFL standings as outlined by Tankathon. The eventual draft order next spring may look a lot different. Here are the picks, followed with some big-picture thoughts as well as a few quick takeaways on some favorite pairings and players: The first month of the 2025 college football season has come to a close, and we can begin to make some way-too-early projections for the 2026 NFL Draft. I don't see tons of guys whom I would give high-first-round grades to; there are a lot of solid players, but also a lot of guys who could be boom or bust, especially at... I would not be overly excited if I had to pick a quarterback this year.

It's still very early on, and there will be a lot more tape to evaluate, as the vast majority of prospects need more tape against quality competition, not to mention those overcoming injuries. With conference play in full bloom, there will be a better understanding of some of these prospects' potential, and there will no doubt be a few guys who rise. The 2026 NFL Draft order was determined using the reverse Super Bowl odds from FanDuel Sportsbook as of Monday morning. Prospect rankings are via CBS Sports' top 50 big board.
