With rising prospects, shifting team needs, and major draft-board shakeups, here’s how the first round could unfold heading into draft season. The college football regular season is officially in the books, and for the nation’s top 2026 NFL Draft prospects, every snap from here on out carries even more weight.

With bowl games, all-star showcases, and the NFL Scouting Combine quickly approaching, draft stocks are about to rise, fall, and reshape the first-round landscape in dramatic fashion. That means it’s the perfect time to dive into an updated edition of our 2026 NFL first-round mock draft. Just a note that draft order is courtesy of Tankathon. Now let’s get to it. With the regular season in the rearview mirror and the playoffs set to kick off, Brian Lamb joins us to release his latest mock draft of the 2026 NFL Draft cycle. Below is the first round of the mock draft, but it doesn’t feature trades and predicts where teams should focus this offseason.

Tom Brady is spearheading the search for a new head coach. I guess that the hire will also be tied to selecting a new quarterback to lead the franchise. Fernando Mendoza makes the most sense. If I’m Dante Moore, I’m not sure that I would declare for the 2026 NFL Draft if it means that I have to play for the Jets. However, they have four picks in the top 50, so they have the ammunition to improve the franchise immediately. If the Cardinals want to move on from Kyler Murray, they’ll have to be okay with eating some dead cap.

Or, they could improve the team around the QB position to target a QB in the near future. QB Cam Ward has shown flashes this season. It’s now up to the Titans’ front office to build around him. The Las Vegas Raiders finally catch a break. While the Browns were complicating things for the Steelers in their quest to wrap up the AFC North in Week 17 -- and, in the process, realistically falling out of range for the top... That result puts Las Vegas in pole position to select Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza.

There will be debate about whether Mendoza is worth the top pick (he is) or whether other quarterbacks could challenge him for QB1 (they can in theory, but Mendoza is the surest thing as... Either way, a year after passing on Shedeur Sanders and Jaxson Dart at No. 6 in favor of running back Ashton Jeanty, the Raiders have no choice but to draft a quarterback this spring. After that, it's worth watching how the rest of the class shakes out. A long list of quarterbacks has already opted to return to school in 2026 -- either staying put or entering the transfer portal -- which could push QB-needy teams like the Jets, Cardinals, Browns,... In this mock, there are no trades, but three quarterbacks come off the board in the top five, leaving the Browns -- who own two first-round picks in 2026 -- on the outside looking...

Instead, Cleveland addresses wide receiver and offensive line, signaling a commitment to the two rookie quarterbacks it drafted last spring, at least for now. It also means the Cardinals, picking fifth, land Simpson as QB3 in the class -- the third time since 2018 that Arizona has used a high first-round pick on a franchise quarterback. The Raiders are desperate for a quarterback, so they did whatever it took to obtain one. This included sitting their best player after he expressed a desire to beat his opponent. The nerve! Geno Smith has been terrible this year, which may have surprised ESPN’s atrocious hires, one of whom said that Geno Smith was a top-10 NFL quarterback when he was traded to Las Vegas.

Smith was one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the NFL, so the Raiders will be drafting a new franchise signal-caller. Fernando Mendoza has great size, arm strength, and accuracy. He was seen as raw entering the 2025 season, but he had a tremendous year. Also, if you’d like to support the site, check out my book!
