To say the least, it’s a downgrade in situation, as the Bruins had one of the worst offenses in college football last season and lost key contributors like wide receiver J. Michael Sturdivant this offseason.

It will be interesting to see how his below-average supporting cast impacts his draft stock moving forward. There may be no better case study for the current era of college football than the fluctuations in quarterback Carson Beck's stock. Other passers have used the portal to slingshot themselves into the first round of the NFL Draft. Likewise, NIL has incentivized prospects to stay in school rather than jump to the league too early. Still, it's a gamble, and some are bound to come out on the wrong side of it. Beck's stock had never been higher than after his SEC-drubbing 2023 campaign.

However, a loaded 2024 crop of passers kept him in Athens, focused on a championship. He entered the 2025 NFL Draft cycle as its preseason QB1, a potential top pick with plenty of talent to amplify his skill set. Just about everything went wrong last season, pushing Beck's NFL ETA back a season and thrusting him into the transfer portal. With the Miami Hurricanes, Beck is being paid handsomely to boost his stock and deliver a championship to the U. Beck earned first-round hype ahead of the 2024 season, and while it has dampened in the months since, he's sure to have his share of believers around the sport. The case for him is simple.

He operates well within structure, playing point guard and managing the game. His ceiling isn't phenomenal, but armed with a quality roster, Beck isn't supposed to sink the ship. The 6'4", 218-pound passer has adequate arm strength and athleticism, even if neither tool transcends the league average. He avoids turnovers and sacks to keep his offense ahead of the chains. Beck is capable of flashing the occasional challenging throw over the middle, but it's his grasp of timing that should stand out to NFL decision makers. He syncs his mechanics with the timing of routes well, is comfortable with post-snap RPO reads, and trusts receivers downfield when necessary.

According to PFSN NFL Mock Draft Simulator data, Beck’s average draft position fell from 74.1 to 152.4 by the end of 2025. With the 6’4, 225-pound prospect projected to go somewhere between the third and sixth rounds, after throwing for 3,072 yards and 25 touchdowns in the regular season and leading the ACC with a 74.7%... Even considering MVP production in 2025, the Los Angeles Rams must consider a succession plan for the soon-to-be 38-year-old starter, Matthew Stafford, with Jimmy Garoppolo unlikely to be the long-term answer. Could Beck jump fellow former Bulldog and Rams backup signal-caller Stetson Bennett IV, who started ahead of him in college, in line for the future Rams QB role?

Many PFSN NFL Mock Draft Simulator users seem to think he has that chance, fitting the prototypical profile for a backup quarterback, as Los Angeles has become one of the top four most common... With picks at No. 13, No. 29, and No. 61 in the first two rounds, the Rams are likely to focus on more immediate needs like cornerback, safety, running back, or offensive tackle. However, with seven selections from the third round onward, Los Angeles could easily still invest in a young quarterback to develop.

Carson Beck is an experienced college quarterback who has been one of the most productive passers in the country in 2025. He won the starting quarterback job in 2023, where he led the SEC in passing yards with 3,941 passing yards, leading Georgia to a 13-1 record and a 63-3 Orange Bowl victory over Florida... He finished the 2024 season with 28 passing touchdowns and an SEC-leading 12 interceptions before transferring to Miami in 2025.

At Miami, Beck helped the Hurricanes to a 10-2 regular season record and a bid in the College Football Playoff. Carson Beck has solid size for the position at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds. He is an experienced college quarterback as well, who has played in a lot of big games and won a lot of games. He currently has a 34-5 record as a starting quarterback and has helped Georgia win the Orange Bowl and helped Miami reach the College Football Playoff during his career. Beck has a quick release, and he throws the ball with good anticipation. He is consistent when it comes to hitting the layups and throwing accurately in the short area of the field.

Beck has had a consistently great completion percentage throughout his college career. He has a career 69.9% completion percentage and the second-best completion percentage in the country in 2025 at 74.7%. Beck is a confident pocket passer as well. He moves well in the pocket and does a good job avoiding pressure. He also rarely bails from a clean pocket too quickly. Beck makes too many poor decisions with the football, putting the ball in danger of a turnover too often.

In the past two seasons, Beck has thrown 22 interceptions and led his conference in interceptions thrown both seasons. His decision-making can be especially bad when he is under pressure. Beck is also not a quarterback who has elite arm talent, and his arm strength is just decent. He is not a consistent passer when throwing deep down the field. I still need to scout an additional 50-70 NFL Draft prospects before the board is finalized in the spring, but this is a good starting point. This is not my final board, and these rankings are subject to change due to things like All-Star game performances (Senior Bowl, Shrine Bowl, etc.), NFL Scouting Combine testing, medical checks, and reports of... I feel good about my opinions on the players listed below, but I’m also open to conducting re-evaluations if a trusted source or friend believes I’m missing something important. I have already flagged a few players that I want to reach seven or eight games of total exposure on to refine my thoughts.

I used to love creating big boards when I first started draft analysis. Now, I despise the process. Prospects like Keagan Trost or Beau Stephens, who I want to rank in the top 130, always fall into the mid-Day 3 positional range because things stack differently than I want. It’s frustrating. There are a lot of players in the Day 3 rankings that I want to bump up (Albert Regis, Josh Thompson, etc.), but that’s just how their grades fell within the tier system. Miami moved up to No. 4 in this week’s polls, and Beck — so far — has made his team’s transition out of the brief but electrifying Cam Ward era seamless.
