2026 las vegas raiders draft scouting lanorris sellers

Scouting South Carolina QB LaNorris Sellers and his 2026 Draft Stock: Stats: 2025 (9 Games) - 62%, 1536 yards, 7 TD, 5 INT, 88 att, 425 yards, 3 TD, 5 fumbles, 4.5% BTT, 3.1% Turnover Worthy Plays LaNorris Sellers is a magical prospect to watch and try and evaluate. For starters, Sellers has been pressured on 47.8% of his dropbacks this season, the highest by nearly 15% in the country. Undre Pressure, Sellers has been poor but his large sample size shows flashes of brilliance as well. A year removed from a 66% completion, 2534 yards, 18 TD, 7 INT, and over 800 rushing yards with 7 TD Sellers has a ton of traits that make him interesting.

Sellers has prototypical NFL size at 6’3, 240 and he looks all of it with a well built frame and good solid strength. To pair with his size, Sellers has an elite level of athleticism with exceptional movement skills and running ability. Sellers displays high end ability to accelerate out of cuts and has true 4.4 speed at the quarterback position. Sellers is able to work and extend plays with his legs, scramble for large chunks, and also work as a designed runner in the offensive system. Additionally, Sellers shows the ability to utilize his legs well in the pocket and has the ability to step up and evade pressure, move to his left or right and extend the play well. While moving, Sellers continues to keep his eyes downfield and can find open targets, while also having the knowledge and awareness to throw the ball away, take his checkdown, or convert to a full...

Sellers pairs his elite athletic traits with an exceptional arm. Sellers has a true high end NFL arm and displays elite ability to generate passes 50+ yards downfield while also generating exceptional zip and velocity on pass attempts. Sellers is able to utilize his full frame to create strong armed throws into tight windows that displays NFL caliber ability. Sellers has good pocket awareness as mentioned, and understands the timing of the position and when to get rid of the ball or move instead of relying solely on his legs and looking to... He’s a high IQ player who shows the ability to read the defense pre snap and create opportunities for himself, Sellers displays a good ability to manipulate defenses with his eyes and feet before... In addition, Sellers has shown a good ability to create touch and layer passes though consistency is an issue.

At just 20 years old, the QB has a large window of growth in his future and has displayed high end traits and processing as is. Sellers does a good job with accuracy at times though it will need some improvement, he shows the ability to create hole shots and throw into the tight windows and with anticipation. Additionally, Sellers has an ability to keep decent footwork and shown the ability to scissor his footwork and recorrect before throws. Sellers has regressed this season, largely in part to an awful offensive system paired with a true lack of talent at the offensive line and wide receiver positions, though Sellers isn’t spare of blame. Sellers has to improve his accuracy and touch overall, especially with consistency. Sellers has a tendency to get low on the ball and push passes high while also having instances where he just missed the throw wide as well or low.

Sellers, often has inconsistent footwork that can cause for him to have these poor throws, and that consistency to clean it up will be crucial. Sellers has a tendency to play too fast and can get panicked at times under pressure or when blitzed, quarterbacks with this issue tend to have a tough struggle at times in the NFL... The sophomore QB has shown an ability to anticipate and throw with anticipation though he’s struggled as well and can lead to those poor throws outside the receivers frame, in addition he will need... Sellers has an issue with turnovers and has had his fair share of issues throwing into poor reads or errant throws that causes a turnover, in addition to a fumbling issues (16 in 2... Sellers has inconsistent footwork, and his mechanics are clean and fluid so footwork improvement should help in eliminating the issues with errant throws along with steady coaching. Sellers is fascinating, there’s the clear choice of whether or not he will declare this season or leave to another program.

That said, Sellers has the traits and athleticism alone that will get him picked inside the top 20 selections most likely. Before anyone says it, no he is not Anthony Richardson and couldn’t be farther from that. Sellers ideally is a QB that can sit for 1-2 seasons, similar to Hurts and Jordan Love, which will allow him to refine the footwork, learn the position, and understand the NFL level. Sellers best fit is a team which has stable coaching looking for a new QB in the near future (see Rams). As for the Raiders, while Sellers displays elite traits and arm talent you can’t bank on him to be a starter day one or even year one and doing so is a failure to... Teams fail young QBs quicker than the QB fails the franchise, and Las Vegas would be in a risky spot to do so with Sellers.

He’s a high risk high reward prospect but if things click, Sellers has the ability to be a multi time Pro Bowl and MVP caliber QB. .wfhb-navbar { background: #111; color: #fff; padding: 1rem; display: flex; justify-content: space-between; align-items: center; } .wfhb-menu-button { font-size: 1.5rem; background: none; color: white; border: none; cursor: pointer; } .wfhb-menu { display: none; flex-direction: column;... When I started to produce some 2026 mocks in 2024, I had Sellers as a future first-rounder even though he barely played as the backup to Spencer Rattler. The reason I had that projection on Sellers was that team sources had told me that the Gamecocks’ backup quarterback had a great skill set with big-time upside. With Rattler in the NFL, Sellers took some time but had a breakout year in his first season as a starter in 2024. In 2024, Sellers completed 66 percent of his passes for 2,534 yards with 18 touchdown passes, seven interceptions, and seven rushing touchdowns.

Sellers will see some tough competitors during the 2025 season. The best games to watch him could include LSU (Oct. 11), Oklahoma (Oct. 18), Alabama (Oct. 25), Texas A&M (Nov. 15), and Clemson (Nov.

29). Sellers was impressive last year in the finale against the Tigers using his legs to produce some huge plays, and they have a defense loaded with NFL talent. For a long time, the big-armed pocket passer was the rage in the NFL, but over the last decade, the league has fallen in love with mobile quarterbacks who are dual-threats and bring dangerous... With that being the case, there probably will be plenty of scouts who are high on Sellers and give him a starter grade in their reports. For the NFL, Sellers is a dynamic playmaker who is a threat to produce a big play on any snap. With good size and strength, Sellers has a rare ability to break tackles in the pocket and bail out his offensive line from allowing a sack.

Sellers is strong to shed tackles, and then scramble out of danger to be in position to make a pass or take off down the field with surprising acceleration. Sellers has quick feet and reaction ability to dodge pass rushers and does an advanced job of keeping his eyes downfield when he has to start moving. Sellers throws well on the run and has easy arm strength to loft passes down the field. Sellers are dangerous on designed runs, and are a real asset to convert on third-and-medium or in the red zone. As a runner, Sellers has a play style that is similar to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Though Geno Smith is 35, there was some speculation that the Las Vegas Raiders might look at him as their starting quarterback for at least two or three years.

Considering how poorly he’s played this season (he’s thrown a league-leading nine interceptions), it’s likely that the team will look into options in the 2026 NFL Draft. There hasn’t been a single quarterback who has cemented himself as the top player in the class, but there are plenty of intriguing options. With Smith under contract for two more seasons after this year, the Raiders could afford to bet on a raw quarterback who needs some development. That’s why South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers could be the perfect fit. In Daniel Flick’s latest 2026 mock draft for Sports Illustrated, he projects the Raiders to add Sellers with the No. 6 pick.

“Las Vegas’s big offseason swing for quarterback Geno Smith hasn’t yet paid dividends, as Smith has thrown an NFL-leading nine interceptions,” Flick wrote. “The Raiders owe Smith $18.5 million guaranteed in 2026, but there are no further cap implications should they part ways after this season. Sellers, an uber-talented redshirt sophomore, has endured an up-and-down campaign, but he has the best physical tools of any passer in the prospective quarterback pool. At 6′ 3″ and 240 pounds, Sellers has a strong arm, explosive athleticism and playmaking ability. Perhaps the Raiders will swing for the fences once again.” Sellers’ 2025 season hasn’t gotten off to a dynamic start.

He’s not playing poorly, but he’s only thrown four touchdowns in five games. It’d be one thing if he were making more plays with his legs, but he only has one rushing touchdown on the season. The Las Vegas Raiders are off to a terrible start to the 2025 season. Going into Week 6, the Silver and Black are 1-4 and are on a four-game losing streak. Many people around the NFL think that the Raiders' season is on the line in Week 6. If they cannot win that game, you might as well start packing your bags.

It has not looked good for the Raiders this season, and there are no signs that it will get better as they are looking to find something to give the Raider Nation to cheer... Right now, the biggest problem for the Raiders has been at the quarterback position. That is one position that the Raiders have not been stable in for the last few years. And it is still a growing concern for this franchise. This offseason, they went and got veteran quarterback Geno Smith, and he has not been the quarterback we have seen him be the last couple of years in Seattle. Geno has not lived up to expectations, and it has gone from bad to worse.

Smith has been a turnover machine this season and is the leader in interceptions with nine through five games. That is one thing that the Raiders did not see coming when they went out and got him. It is something that has haunted the Raiders during their four-game losing streak. And it has not looked any better from game to game. The Raiders hope it is going to get better, but Smith has shown no signs of stopping from turning the ball over. That is something the Raiders could not afford this season.

Some fans have already moved on and started thinking about the 2026 NFL Draft and see what player the Raiders could take. South Carolina narrowly missed the College Football Playoff in 2024 after winning its final six games in the regular season. The Gamecocks look to be a dark horse in the SEC in 2025 and make their first playoff appearance. A big reason why many view South Carolina as a contender is LaNorris Sellers. Sellers took the nation by storm down the stretch last year, with the Gamecocks being one of the hottest teams in college football by the end of the season. His physical gifts are undeniable, but he is still a very young prospect with some room to grow.

The traits make him a likely first-round pick, but can he be the first player off the board in 2026? Unlike many of the other top signal-callers in this class, Sellers wasn’t a blue-chip recruit coming out of high school. He was a three-star prospect coming out of Florence(South Carolina) and the 34th-ranked quarterback in the Class of 2023. Sellers chose to stay in the Palmetto State and committed to South Carolina. He sat behind Spencer Rattler as he redshirted in 2023. Sellers only saw action in three games as a true freshman, but he showed glimpses of what was to come.
