While Mamdani consistently led in the polls heading into election since his stunning victory in the Democratic primary, recent polls had shown Cuomo closing the gap.

Tuesday's mayoral election is one of the marquee races of 2025. There are a number of other city offices up this year along with six ballot measures for voters to consider. Live results will be available after the polls close at 9:00 PM Eastern Time.

Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani has a double-digit polling lead over former Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa as he looks to become the new mayor of America's largest city. Mamdani stunned the political world by winning the Democratic nomination in June, using social media to amplify a very progressive platform. Cuomo, who lost in that Democratic primary, is on the ballot line for the 'Fight and Deliver' party, which he formed back in May. Mayor Eric Adams, who ran as an independent, ended his campaign in late September. However, he remains on the ballot.

Sliwa is again the GOP nominee; he lost to Adams in 2021. New York City knows who its next mayor will be. Democrat Zohran Mamdani was projected to win the mayoral race after squaring off against former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who ran as an independent, and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa.
