2025 Nfl Trade Deadline Winners And Losers Jets Smartly Stockpile For
The 2025 NFL trade deadline came and went Tuesday, but not without a tizzy of activity. A slew of blockbuster deals were struck in the hours leading up to the in-season cutoff, bringing the running total of players dealt during the 2025 campaign to more than two dozen, setting a... Three first-round draft picks were also moved Tuesday, which tied the in-season record of the last 25 seasons. The New York Jets were at the forefront of the blockbuster shuffling, with two different former All-Pro starters in Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams shipped elsewhere, despite both stars inking lucrative contract extensions with... Plenty of others also got involved on Deadline Day, including the Jacksonville Jaguars and Jerry Jones' Dallas Cowboys, who struck not one but two different deals to help shore up a porous defense. Which players and teams stood out the most before the league closed up shop on the trading front, for both better and worse?
Here are some of the top winners and losers from this year's in-season NFL trade deadline: Jets fans may be shredding their wardrobes after the club dealt not one but two of the team's top talents in Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams. But consider that with Sauce and Williams, this team was 1-7 and going nowhere fast. Even when both players were dominant at their respective positions a few years ago, the Jets couldn't even bother to make the postseason. Why? Because the offense has been a trainwreck for years.
Adam Schefter joins Pat McAfee to break down how the Colts were able to trade for Sauce Gardner. (2:08) What an NFL trade deadline! Remember when the highlights were two decently sized trades including middle-round picks? Everyone say a big thank you to the Jets, as three first-round picks were dealt on deadline day! The Sauce Gardner trade is only the second in-season trade including multiple first-round selections in the past 30 years.
What a thrill. Identifying winners and losers on deadline day is always tough. The Jets will be made a winner or a loser for their efforts today not by my words, but by the picks they make over the next two or three years. Of course, we can grade the quality of their work now (spoiler, they are winners) -- but this isn't the real test. The real test is what comes next. Aside from the fireworks over the Big Apple, I have winners and losers from the Saints' busy day, the Patriots' quiet one, the ever-active Ravens and the surprising Jakobi Meyers landing spot.
Let's dive in. Jump to: Gardner | Hall | Meyers Cowboys | Jets | Patriots Ravens | Saints OFFENSIVE LINE: F (last week F) This is different than the failure against Georgia though. Missouri is a good defense but should not have whipped State's front so consistently. So dramatically, even at times. Where Georgia was pretty much plain old power the Tigers added a big dose of speed Bulldog blockers could not handle.
There were 'only' five sacks and four official hurries on the final sheet but it sure seemed twice as bad. Getting Albert Reese back didn't do much as he moved to guard and was scarcely used as a standard run blocker with so many quarterback keepers. Center remains an open invitation, so to speak, for a straight-shot at the quarterback, and this time it was Jayvin James having a miserable night at tackle. Though to be fair one of his holding calls did prevent a sack. Inconsistent lineups hasn't helped of course, but blocking has regressed all SEC season. Before Saturday, losing at Bryant-Denny Stadium was a feeling unknown to most of Alabama's roster.
Only five players who played in the Tide's 23-21 loss to the Sooners also played more than two years ago in Alabama's most recent home loss to Texas. And not a single player is still on the roster from the last time Alabama lost at home to an SEC opponent in 2019. On Saturday afternoon in College Station, South Carolina got off a stellar start as it led by a score of 30-3 at halftime. However, the Gamecocks collapsed in the second half as Texas A&M roared back and won, 31-30. With the loss, the Gamecocks fall to 3-7 overall and 1-7 in SEC play. How does the GoPowercat staff see Saturday's game against Oklahoma State unfolding?.
Here are our score predictions. K-State has been playing better as of late. Even in their loss to Texas Tech, the Wildcats looked really good at times. The offense is starting to click, and even without Austin Romaine, K-State's front seven has been solid. Kansas State survived at Oklahoma State, 14-6, but this offensive performance came from a K-State team that wasn't fully prepared or properly motivated to play. As Fitz points out, they seem to lack a master plan.

What was once a shrug on the league's annual calendar has become a date that rivals the MLB and NBA in terms of meaningful deals. A steady trickle of October swaps turned into a gushing faucet of moves Tuesday, a good chunk of which involved the New York Jets looking at their roster and saying "oh, no." The landscape of the league shifted in a minor but significant way with a flurry of in-season trades.
With the regular season halfway done and playoff pushes clicking into gear, there's plenty to unpack. While it's way too early to definitively say who helped themselves the most (and the least), we can always make some snap judgments to be unearthed later when the Dallas Cowboys win Super Bowl... So who looks the best after the 2025 trade deadline? The Eagles are 6-2, but cracks began to show in their championship facade. The strain of losing a litany of starters threatened to derail Philadelphia's title defense. So Roseman went and found a mix of veteran help to backfill those losses.
For once, the NFL’s trade deadline delivered. The league didn’t collectively execute more trades on Tuesday than it has in recent years (in 2022, a record 12 players were moved in 10 total deadline trades), but boy, did Tuesday’s deals move... We throw around the word “blockbuster” a lot when it comes to sports moves, but we got two that qualify, both involving the New York Jets, who dealt their two best defensive players, cornerback... In this year’s trade deadline period (we’ll include a slew of deals made in the last week), several Super Bowl contenders fortified their rosters, a couple of quality wide receivers found new homes where... These are the winners and losers of the 2025 NFL trade deadline. Diante Lee: Every Cowboys fan had to have awoken with a knot in their stomach on Tuesday morning after Dallas’s two-score loss to a bad Cardinals team that was playing with backup quarterback Jacoby...
Combine the team’s terrible defensive effort with Jerry Jones’s vague statement earlier Monday that he’d already agreed to a trade, while declining to reveal any details beyond it being a move that would “address... There’s been only one shortcoming in Dallas this year: the entire defense, which is on pace to be one of the worst we’ve ever seen. So when I woke up this morning to see that the Cowboys had traded for Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson, I had a sinking feeling that Jerry had sold us a false bill of goods,... Only Jones was far from finished. Later Tuesday, he made a blockbuster deal to trade for Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. The Cowboys are sending New York a 2026 second-rounder and a 2027 first-rounder along with defensive tackle Mazi Smith, whom Jones drafted in the first round in 2023.
Now that we’ve passed the deadline, we assess all of Dallas’s big 2025 moves in the aggregate. Jones essentially traded edge rusher Micah Parsons and Smith for Williams, defensive tackle Kenny Clark, and a first-round pick. We may have mocked Jones for the Parsons trade in August (and were justified in doing so), but now it is possible that the net return helped Dallas ultimately break even. In the NFL world of winners and losers, there’s an uncomfortable truth: some people can be both. Tuesday, as the 2025 season 4 p.m. trade deadline crept closer and closer, the most shocking wheeling and dealing actor can be described as just that.
The New York Jets were relatively quiet until late Tuesday morning when they dealt one of their three best players … and then, soon after, dealt another. Sauce Gardner, meet the Indianapolis Colts. Quinnen Williams, meet the Dallas Cowboys. And Aaron Glenn … meet a lost season but perhaps time bought to build a more sustainable winner in the future? [Get more Jets news: New York team feed] Howie Roseman delivered again for the Eagles, while Sauce Gardner heads to the Colts as part of the Jets' fire sale.
Emilee Chinn and Megan Briggs / Getty Images The NFL experienced quite the busy trade deadline as 10 deals took place over Monday and Tuesday before the 4 p.m. ET cutoff point, as teams either geared up for strong second-half pushes for contention or began stockpiling assets for offseason rebuilds. We saw blockbuster deals, such as the New York Jets sending All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner to Indianapolis for two Colts’ first-round draft picks and wide receiver AD Mitchell. Intriguing moves, such as the Seattle Seahawks’ acquisition of wide receiver Rashid Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints for a pair of draft picks, plus the Jacksonville Jaguars swapping draft selections to the Las... In all, 22 in-season trades took place, topping last year’s 18.
Traditionally, these in-season deals tend to fall short of the desired impact. But this year’s action has the potential to buck that trend. Here’s a look at some of the biggest winners and losers from this year’s trade deadline. The 2025 NFL trade deadline came and went on Tuesday with a handful of trades. Some were expected, while others were not. It seemed to be a seller's market with the New York Jets capitalizing on it and restocking their draft-pick cupboard for the next few years.
Let's take a look at some of the biggest winners and losers from Tuesday's action. With so many teams in the playoff race and thinking they have at least something of a chance to make a run in the postseason, there weren't many teams looking to unload players. That meant options for contending teams were limited, and the teams that were looking to sell were going to be able to cash in. The New York Jets stockpiled future first- and second-round picks. The Las Vegas Raiders received two draft picks for a rental in Jakobi Meyers, including a fourth-rounder. © 2025 BVM Sports.
