2025 Nfl Mock Draft Tannenbaum Makes Gm Picks For Round 1
General managers and top decision-makers around the league are starting to pivot their attention from free agency to the 2025 NFL draft, which is now less than one month away. Round 1 begins April 24. Studying the draft class and figuring out how the board might fall was always a lot of fun while I was the general manager and executive vice president of the Jets (2006-12) and then... So, for a fifth straight year, I'm going to pretend I'm the GM of all 32 teams and make my own picks for the entire first round. This isn't a traditional mock draft. Draft analysts project what they believe will happen in their mocks based on what they're hearing, just as my colleague Mel Kiper Jr.
did last week. But I'm approaching this differently. I'm putting myself in the general manager chair for each team and making my own picks. So it's not necessarily what I'm expecting to happen but rather how I'd personally approach each Day 1 selection. What follows is based on my own evaluations, preferences, philosophies and rationale. Here are my GM selections for the first 32 picks, and I get things started by subbing in for new Titans GM Mike Borgonzi at No.
1 overall. While I'm not ready to completely write off Will Levis as an NFL starter, I think there's a clear separation in talent between him and Ward. This is an easy decision for Tennessee. And the team signing tackle Dan Moore Jr. and guard Kevin Zeitler -- moves that allow JC Latham to kick over to right tackle -- leads me to believe that it's heading in this direction. With less than a month before the 2025 NFL Draft begins on April 24, former NFL general manager-turned-ESPN commentator Mike Tannenbaum put his GM hat back on to produce a mock up of how...
He did so as if he were making the picks for every team. That begins with an early run on QBs among the Top 3 picks and a general focus on the trenches throughout the first round. Check out Mike Tannenbaum’s post-free agency 2025 NFL Mock Draft below: Mike Tannenbaum starts his mock draft off with a quarterback, projecting the Titans keep the No. 1 overall pick and land their franchise QB of the future.
In his first season in Coral Gables, Ward led the Hurricanes’ NCAA-leading offense with a FBS-best 39 passing touchdowns and ranked in the Top 5 in nearly every passing metric. He was second nationally with 4,313 yards on 67.2-percent passing in 2024. Tannenbaum: “Ward has a sturdy frame (especially in his lower body) at 219 pounds, and he displays outstanding pocket movement. I like how his eye level stays down the field as he moves around and avoids pressure.” PlayerProfiler is home to award-winning dynasty rankings and tools. This will be my final mock draft before the NFL Draft Combine. When I release my next version, we’ll have further clarity on players’ athletic testing measurables and initial free-agent landing spots. We are less than two months away from the start of the NFL Draft’s first round.
Happy draft season to all who celebrate! Enjoy the combine. Many mock drafts project Tennessee to select Abdul Carter, but as in my previous article, I continue to predict Cam Ward as the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Titans must get it right at quarterback, and Ward possesses both elite arm strength and mobility. Carter is the draft’s premier pass rusher and one of the best edge prospects in recent years. Cleveland will bypass a quarterback and instead select arguably the most talented player in the class.
Carter could form a dominant tandem with Myles Garrett or provide the Browns with the flexibility to trade Garrett, with Carter as his successor. Kyle's updated 2025 NFL Mock Draft and NFL Draft predictions for the 2025 NFL Draft. Draft expert Kyle Lindemann breaks down all 32 picks from the first round. It's hard to believe there are just a few weeks left in the 2024 NFL regular season. The draft order is taking shape, and the top seven teams in the draft order are separated by just one win, which means things could get exciting here down the stretch! If you're a dynasty fantasy football enthusiast, you've also come to the right place as the 2025 NFL Draft will impact the dynasty landscape for years to come.
Mock drafts are a lot of fun this time of year, and I'll be honest, the 2025 class is unique. There aren't as many eye-popping stars as there were in 2024, but there are a lot of useful players in this group. I believe what you will see in the coming months is a lot of split consensuses on prospects, as well as how the top ten picks in this draft will eventually shake out. This group is deep on the defensive side, especially at cornerback. But as always, these picks aren't based on what I would do personally, they're drawn up from intel via team beat reports, GM/front office draft tendencies, team needs, and the overall talent of the... Now, let's dive in and see what your favorite team might do here come April, shall we?
1. Las Vegas Raiders Shedeur Sanders - QB, Colorado Season Two of the Raiders and head coach Antonio Pierce hasn't been a good one by any stretch. Las Vegas has been in a bunch of games, but they haven't been able to seal the deal in most of them. The good news is they got some nice pieces on offense in the 2024 draft with tight end Brock Bowers, center Jackson Powers-Johnson, and offensive tackle Delmar Glaze. Here are the full team-by-team results from Chad Reuter's seven-round mock draft of active NFL players for the 2025 season. Mike Tannenbaum puts his GM hat on and makes his own first-round selections.
See why he's taking Cam Ward and Ashton Jeanty early. Does anyone know what the Houston Texans will do when they're on the clock with their first-round pick next month? Sitting at No. 25 overall, it’s hard to gauge which prospects will still be on the board worth taking and betting on the potential. It's even more difficult to predict whether general manager Nick Caserio and head coach DeMeco will target a wide receiver, left tackle, interior offensive lineman, or a different position. Houston also is known as one of the more aggressive teams to trade down and land more draft capital to ensure it can move around to land its talent.
Former Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum released a new mock draft on Tuesday where he plays GM for every team in Round 1. Rather than picking what he believes will happen, he made selections based on what he would do as the team’s GM. For the Texans, the choice didn’t seem all that hard, given how the board panned out. With a need long-term at left tackle and a Houston product sitting at No. 25, Tannebaum has the Texans selecting Texas offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr., a polarizing prospect who could be selected anywhere from the middle of a top 15 to late Round 1 option for teams... "I just couldn't get past the fact that Stroud needs time to actually throw to his receivers, whoever they might end up being," Tannebaum wrote.
"He took 52 sacks last season (second most in the NFL) and then Houston unexpectedly traded away its best offensive lineman in Laremy Tunsil. Even though the team signed Cam Robinson, drafting Banks would be great for this unit. He allowed three total sacks over 42 career starts."
