2025 nfl mock draft bears take ashton jeanty after trading into top 5

Welcome to my final mock draft of the 2025 NFL Draft cycle, where I spew incorrect takes throughout the first round that will kick off from Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Thursday night. Well, they won't all be wrong. The first three picks (and maybe even the Patriots' selection at No. 4) seem to be set with Cam Ward going to the Titans, Travis Hunter ending up with the Browns, Abdul Carter landing with the Giants and Will Campbell off to New England. But from when the Jaguars are on the clock at No. 5 to when the Eagles close out Round 1 at No.

32? Who the hell knows. In my attempt at predicting the unpredictable, I have the Bears trading up to the fifth pick for Ashton Jeanty and the Jaguars moving back to 10th to snag Tetairoa McMillan. The Rams and Bills also trade up -- one for a tight end, the other for a cornerback -- while the Giants jump back into the first round, but not for Shedeur Sanders. And to close things out, Philadelphia gets yet another playmaker in an offense full of them. We'll know soon enough who your favorite team selects in Round 1, but for now, sit back, relax, and take a gander at who your franchise will almost certainly not take (aside from the...

The Chicago Bears are in an interesting spot as a franchise, making their potential draft strategy fascinating to discuss. They enter this year's draft with the tenth overall pick, with multiple predicted directions they can go based on mock drafts. One potential they could go that hasn't been heavily explored is trading up in the NFL draft.

In this recent mock draft from Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports, he has the Bears trading up for one of the top prospects in the draft. At fourth overall, the New England Patriots have become a popular trade down candidate. They seem like a team that is only really interested in grabbing Travis Hunter or possibly Abdul Carter, given their wide variety of needs and lack of top-end talent. More news: Latest NFL Draft Rumors Could Force Patriots to Trade Down In this mock, they decide that losing out on Hunter is enough to trade down, trading from fourth to 10th to allow the Bears to jump up and select Carter, the best pass rusher... NFL mock draft interest starts almost immediately after the last one concludes and carries on for a long time without playing with a full deck.

First it’s the lack of a true draft order. Once that gets worked out, there’s more trouble with the process because there’s so much player turnover before the draft even arrives. There’s plenty of buzz coming out of the NFL Scouting Combine that forms another wave of NFL mock draft submissions, even with free agency on the horizon. This week has been proof of that, with so many stars requesting trades and a few more actually getting moved. The Bears were a central figure in all that, adding top guards Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson. That means the tackle-who-can-slide-to-guard type frequently associated with the Bears at No.

10 overall seems like less of a priority. So will additions made in free agency, whether it’s along the defensive interior, off the edge or a center. There’s more information to be gathered is my point, but folks love a mock draft. So here’s another one, getting to Chicago’s selection at No. 10 overall. We’ll do seven-rounders soon enough and full mocks after free agency, but here’s a new direction I think Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson could go in the first round.

Until the pick is actually in, fans and pundits will speculate on who the Chicago Bears will select at No. 10 in the 2025 NFL Draft. In one the latest NFL mock drafts released, the Bears add a true playmaker for head coach Ben Johnson’s new offense. Star Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty is Chicago’s pick in Andrew Freeman of 247Sports’ most recent mock draft. He argues that while going running back at No. 10 might be a bit high, Jeanty is the exact type of player that’ll fit Johnson’s scheme.

“On the Bears, Jeanty would step in right away as the team’s lead back,” Freeman wrote. “Ben Johnson saw the benefit of having an elite running back with the Detroit Lions in the form of Jahmyr Gibbs and could look to replicate that in his offense in Chicago. De’Andre Swift would be relegated to a situational receiving role, which is a much better use of his skill set.” “Overall, while investing in a running back this high would be controversial, Jeanty is one of the few players in this draft with the potential to be a Pro Bowl caliber talent from day... Jeanty burst on to the scene with Boise State in 2024, earning the Maxwell, Doak Walker and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, all while being an Unanimous All-American and nominated for the Heisman Trophy. Overall, Jeanty ran for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns, leading the nation in rushing yards.

I definitely want to see Ashton Jeanty in a Chicago Bears uniform. You probably want to see Ashton Jeanty in a Chicago Bears uniform. Ashton Jeanty possibly wants to see Ashton Jeanty in a Chicago Bears uniform. But the way the NFL Draft landscape is looking today, the chances of any of us seeing the stud running back in navy-and-orange are really, really, really slim. Y'see, two teams are standing in Chicago’s way: If either the Raiders or the Cowboys bring Jeanty into the fold, the first round of the NFL Draft will look quite different for the revamped Chicago Bears.

Here’s what we might see on April 24, 2025: The Chicago Bears are gearing up for the 2025 NFL draft, where they'll be selecting in the Top 10 for the third straight year. And there will be no shortage of options, especially after Chicago made some big moves in free agency to give them flexibility in the first round. In a new mock draft from NFL.com's Lance Zierlein, the Bears land a playmaking running back in Ashton Jeanty for Ben Johnson's offense with the 10th overall pick. Jeanty has been a popular pick for Chicago and the Las Vegas Raiders. So if he gets past Las Vegas, the Bears might be able to land the best running back in the draft.

The Bears have done a good job improving their offensive line this offseason. The next step toward getting the most from Caleb Williams and that offense should be taking the most explosive playmaker in this draft. Players still on the board when Chicago picked Jeanty include tight end Tyler Warren, cornerback Will Johnson and wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan. Jeanty was one of college football's biggest playmakers last season, finishing second in Heisman voting behind Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter. In 2024, Jeanty rushed for 2,601 yards, averaging 7.0 yards per carry, and 29 touchdowns. He added 23 receptions for 138 yards and a score.

The Chicago Bears have some hard decisions to make coming up over the next few days. The 2025 NFL Draft is approaching and with the number ten pick in the first round, the Bears have some flexibility. They can go for need, or they can go for the best player available. There will be a ton of talent available at the tenth spot in the draft. One player, in particular, who could be available when the Bears make their pick in the first round is Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty. The Heisman runner-up just might be someone that the Bears take a big interest in and draft.

Media outlets are reporting more consistently that the Bears are very interested in Jeanty and could do some repositioning to grab him. But remember, the draft is mostly all talk right up to it. You never really know what teams are going to do till they pull the trigger on draft night. The following is a look at Jeanty, his strengths and weaknesses, and what he could bring to the Bears should they draft him. Height-5’8 ½” Weight-211 40 Yard Dash-4.48 est. In 24 hours, the Chicago Bears’ mock drafts from the past few months were pancaked.

The trade acquisitions of guards Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson completely altered the Bears’ offensive line as well as how to approach the top of their draft. While more work can be done on the offensive line, general manager Ryan Poles and coach Ben Johnson have already made two major moves to provide some flexibility, and free agency hasn’t even begun. By our third and final Bears mock draft in April, other needs could be filled by veterans, creating even more opportunities with the Bears’ three picks in the first 41 selections. This mock draft also has the benefit of more data, as we’re a week removed from the combine, which gave these prospects athletic scores to consider, and we know the Bears have preferred athletes... Below is our second Bears mock draft, with the obvious disclaimers that no one knows where anyone will truly be drafted. This is an exercise to put together another scenario for Halas Hall.

At least we're not talking about the Bears' first overall pick this year. It's been quite the few years for the Bears and their draft picks. Whether it was trading up for Justin Fields, fleecing the Panthers (although is it still as much of a fleece as we thought??), or taking Caleb Williams first overall last year, the Bears have... Which is almost as good as winning games! They're only picking ninth this year, which kinda feels low for a team that only managed to win five games this season. But any top-10 pick comes with a little arbitrary excitement, and CBS Sports found a way to get a click out of every single person who's ever been apart of Bears Twitter.

In their latest mock draft, which was published on Monday morning, CBS has the Bears taking Boise State star running back Ashton Jeanty with their first round pick. The photoshopped hype videos are already being created as we speak. "How about a scenario in which the Cowboys don't draft Ashton Jeanty ... and Ben Johnson and the Bears land the premier running back in this class?" I mean, sure! Whatever.

Jeanty is not only one of the biggest names in this year's draft, but he also happens to be, you know, a transcendent talent and one of the best running backs that college football... And now that Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry made running backs cool again, the idea of using a top 10 pick at that position doesn't seem so out of touch anymore.
