The Athletic’s NFL draft expert on Wednesday released a seven-round mock and predicted each of New England’s nine draft selections. Brugler’s first three selections for the Patriots were used on offensive players.

This year's draft is a pivotal one for the franchise, and the team will look to address key weaknesses while also stockpiling assets for the future. While the combine won’t drastically change draft boards, it serves as an opportunity to confirm scouting reports and evaluate prospects against higher-level competition.

With Mike Vrabel now leading the team and Josh McDaniels back as offensive coordinator, expect the Patriots to prioritize the trenches, offensive playmakers and defensive versatility. Without further ado, let’s get into this full 7-round mock draft for the Patriots. Patriots receive: Pick No. 6 (Round 1), Pick No. 68 (Round 3) and Pick No. 106 (Round 4)

The Patriots trade back from No. 4 to No. 6, picking up a third and fourth-round pick from the Raiders while still securing one of the best offensive linemen in the draft. After I finish up “The Beast,” my attention shifts to a complete seven-round mock draft. It’s a time-exhaustive task, but I also see it as a helpful thought exercise to focus on team needs, draft trends and fits for all 32 organizations.
