The draft has come and gone, and franchises have changed their 2025 outlook. Many teams did a solid job of addressing needs and finding solid value in this year’s draft. Below are my grades for the 2025 NFL Draft in alphabetical order. I liked Arizona’s draft. They drafted DT Walter Nolin at 1.16 and then got great value at 2.15 by selecting CB Will Johnson, who was projected as a first-rounder. The Cardinals focused on building up the defensive side of the football.

Will Johnson will immediately come in and should start, and Nolin should be able to make an impact very early on. The Cardinals are a team on the rise in the NFC West. The Falcons were also on a mission to improve the defensive side of the football. I loved that they aggressively drafted two impactful players, LB Jalon Walker and Edge James Pearce Jr, but I did not like trading away a future first-round pick. I understand the Falcons are pushing in their chips to win now, but a future first in the NFL is like gold. Atlanta also found great value in the third round by drafting safety Xavier Watts out of Notre Dame.

The Falcons are on their way in the NFC South. Immediate draft grades provide a foundation for future evaluations. Waiting three years to assess draft classes without accounting for how the decision was viewed at the time usually leads to revisionist history. These 2025 NFL Draft snap grades reflect the value I think each pick (or set of picks) has, given the slot and the prospect's college film/athleticism scores. Trades, and the capital exchanged (both picks and players), are factored into these grades, too, as they also play a significant part in determining the future of a franchise. The 2025 NFL Draft is officially in the books.

After a flurry of selections from Thursday to Saturday, 257 players were selected to join the NFL. As a plus run defender, Nolen earned the second-highest PFF run-defense grade in the FBS this past season (91.6).

The seventh-ranked prospect on the PFF Big Board will instantly upgrade an Arizona defense that ranked 27th in EPA allowed per rush in 2024. Johnson — A tough injury cut Johnson’s 2024 campaign short and sent his draft stock tumbling. However, he did prove his level of talent across his tenure at Michigan. His 57.2 passer rating allowed into his coverage across the last three seasons charted in the 94th percentile. Pairing Johnson with breakout cornerback Garrett Williams will upgrade a coverage unit that allowed the sixth-highest EPA per dropback. The 2025 NFL Draft is in the books, and despite what some people may say, this is a perfect time to take a stab at grading it.

Ultimately, the draft is a game. Every team starts out with the same number of picks and has the same actions available to them to try and win — aka find the best players and build the best team. Like most games, there are historically proven strategies that tend to work better than others, but also times when it’s advantageous to go against convention. We don’t know how the players who were picked will perform but we do know how teams did when it comes to general draft best practices, such as: So with this in mind, we can evaluate the draft for all 32 teams even though it’s hardly just finished. Time will tell how it all actually turns out in the end.

This is an important draft for the 49ers, as with QB Brock Purdy‘s looming extension and some aging core players, it will be vital for San Francisco to hit on as many of its... I’m not sure if they met the moment. San Francisco reached against consensus with several selections, with the pick of Martin in the third round the most glaring. He ranked No. 192 on the consensus board and San Francisco took him well over 100 slots higher. Martin tested quite well, for what it’s worth, and fills a major need at linebacker.

Collins, Stout and Watkins were also significant reaches, though Collins also meets a notable need on the interior and brings some much-needed heft and athleticism. San Francisco snared West and James lower than consensus, meaning a double-dip at defensive tackle where the 49ers were weak and a boost to the depth at running back. Tampa Bay received one of the three "A" grades I gave out this year. The other two went to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs, both teams doing some impressive things over the seven rounds, including Jacksonville's bold move to go up to No. 2 to get Travis Hunter, the best player in the draft. These draft grades are immediate, so I know they are infuriating for some. But our bosses love them -- and you eat them up. So we do them.

But before you go nuts, just remember I go back three years later to evaluate the draft and evaluate how I did grading it. For now, Licht's Bucs again stand out. From the first pick, taking receiver Emeka Egbuka to the final pick of receiver Tez Johnson in the seventh -- a player I really like -- the Bucs had a heck of a weekend. The pick of Egbuka was surprising since they have three starting receivers, but it's more about the future. They then took two quality corners after that to address a major need. In due time, we’ll know whether the Jacksonville Jaguars’ risky decision to acquire the Cleveland Browns’ No. 2 pick to select Travis Hunter was a giant mistake or a monumental moment for the franchise. And we’ll find out whether NFL teams were right to make Shedeur Sanders a Day 3 pick to the Browns, going long after the Tennessee Titans took Cam Ward with the No. 1 pick. But patience isn’t really a thing in the NFL. Teams often want fast results, with surroundings playing an important factor in how a prize rookie does early in their career.
