2025 New England Patriots Mock Draft Sumersports
After Drew Lock threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns in a Giants win over the Colts, the New England Patriots moved into the number one overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. The early returns on Drake Maye have been positive, but they need help in multiple other spots. I used nflmockdraftdatabase.com’s Mock Draft Simulator and ran through a seven-round mock draft as the New England Patriots. Like in my previous mock drafts, I tried to stick to the big board, and I wasn’t allowed to trade down or up in the draft order. Here’s how it turned out. Travis Hunter is the consensus best player in this draft.
He’s going to play on both sides of the ball at the next level but with his 94th percentile Coverage grade, his primary position will most likely be cornerback. He has an 88th percentile AI Receiving grade and will be a weapon for Drake Maye in his sophomore season. New England is currently allowing some of the highest pressure rates in the league and need to add to their offensive line. Jonah Savaiinaea has played guard, left tackle, and right tackle in college and he has an 88th percentile AI Passing Blocking grade. This pick came down to Savaiinaea and Alabama’s Tyler Booker. Savaiinaea's versatility gave him the slight edge here.
The Pats need to add a run defending defensive edge player. Anfernee Jennings leads the group with a 59th percentile AI Run Defense grade and New England is currently 25th against the run in terms of yards per game. LT Overton and his 98th percentile AI Run Defense grade is exactly what they need to help fix that. The Patriots are also bottom three in sacks this season, so with the extra third round pick they acquired from Atlanta for the Matthew Judon trade, they continue to bolster their defensive line and... The New England Patriots went into the NFL Scouting Combine with plenty of roster questions and a need to build around quarterback Drake Maye. This year's draft is a pivotal one for the franchise, and the team will look to address key weaknesses while also stockpiling assets for the future.
While the combine won’t drastically change draft boards, it serves as an opportunity to confirm scouting reports and evaluate prospects against higher-level competition. With Mike Vrabel now leading the team and Josh McDaniels back as offensive coordinator, expect the Patriots to prioritize the trenches, offensive playmakers and defensive versatility. Without further ado, let’s get into this full 7-round mock draft for the Patriots. Patriots receive: Pick No. 6 (Round 1), Pick No. 68 (Round 3) and Pick No.
106 (Round 4) The Patriots trade back from No. 4 to No. 6, picking up a third and fourth-round pick from the Raiders while still securing one of the best offensive linemen in the draft. Our staff has compiled what the top 'experts' are predicting the New England Patriots will do in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Jeremiah's Analysis: "The Patriots must upgrade the left tackle position heading into Year 2 for Drake Maye.
Campbell fits the bill. He'll be a long-term starter for New England." Click here for Daniel Jeremiah's full mock draft. Perry's Analysis: "This one simply makes too much sense for the Patriots. Campbell is widely regarded by evaluators as the top offensive tackle in an imperfect tackle class. He possesses elite movement skills.
He was a three-year starter in the SEC. And his intangibles have made a fantastic impression on decision-makers at One Patriot Place throughout the pre-draft process. His arms measured just 33 inches at his Pro Day, leading some to wonder whether his best fit will ultimately be at guard. But Campbell's combination of athleticism, toughness and intelligence will help make him a leader in a locker room that could use as much of that as it can get." The New England Patriots came out of the 2024 NFL Draft with a franchise quarterback, the first major piece in the storied franchise’s turnaround.
It’s now time to build around Drake Maye, and while free agency will help, it is even more imperative to build a young foundation around him. Our Patriots mock draft will examine one way New England can use the 2025 NFL Draft to lay the framework for a perennial contender. LSU Tigers offensive lineman Will Campbell merits consideration here, but his arm length is below the threshold for quality left tackles in the NFL. He can be a great guard, a potential perennial Pro Bowl selection, but that might not be worth taking at the fourth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Instead, New England grabs All-American defensive lineman Mason Graham. Related: NFL insider reveals top New England Patriots free agent targets
Graham – 6-foo-3 and 296 pounds – offers so many of the qualities Mike Vrabel wants to define his team. He delivers a relentless motor. He’s also technically sound as an interior disruptor, both with how he uses his hands and his ability to win with leverage. Putting him alongside Christian Barmore on the defensive line would greatly help New England’s ability to win battles in the trenches. It also creates a foundation that will make getting to the QB for sacks easier for Patriots’ edge rushers. The New England Patriots offensive line was truly abysmal last season – 31st in ESPN pass-block win rate (51%) and 32nd in run-block win rate (67%) – and it can’t be addressed any later...
While Donovan Jackson primarily played guard in college, he shined at left tackle in the College Football Playoff. He also moved great for his size (6-foot-4 and 315 pounds) at the NFL Combine, providing even more reason to think he could stick at offensive tackle. Even if he has to kick back inside to guard, New England would potentially be landing a premium starter on the interior. Plus, Jackson knows the work it takes to win a championship and that’s the kind of culture setters Vrabel and the Patriots want in the building moving forward. As the season winds down, the New England Patriots hold the number one pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. With an offense averaging just 16.6 points per game—ranking No.
30 in the NFL—the Patriots are poised to prioritize an offensive overhaul, regardless of their season finale outcome against the Buffalo Bills. In this week’s NFL Draft Notebook, we outline how New England can address their offensive struggles through seven-round mock draft. We also spotlight key rookies to watch this weekend, examine how critical matchups could impact the draft landscape, and finish up by highlighting a rookie quarterback who could be on the move this offseason. Round 1, Pick 1: Travis Hunter, CB/WR, ColoradoThe Patriots opt to take the best player in the 2025 NFL Draft rather than trading down. Travis Hunter is a generational talent capable of excelling as either a game-breaking wide receiver or a lockdown cornerback. Pairing him with Christian Gonzalez could give New England one of the league's top young cornerback tandems.
Round 2, Pick 36: Josh Simmons, OT, Ohio StateOffensive tackle is a top priority for New England, but with no tackle worth a top-five selection, they address the need in the second round. Ohio State’s Josh Simmons is an athletic left tackle who could replace Vederian Lowe and significantly bolster the line. Round 3, Pick 67: Tate Ratledge, OG, GeorgiaThe Patriots continue to invest in the offensive line by selecting Georgia All-American Tate Ratledge. Ratledge has allowed just two sacks during his five-year college career and should help upgrade a unit that currently allows 3.2 sacks per game. The New England Patriots find themselves picking in the top four for the second consecutive year, despite appearing to have found their franchise quarterback in 2024. The Patriots slumped to a 4-13 record, plagued by offensive-line problems and a lack of receiver talent that hindered their offense.
In the latest seven-round Mock Draft from PFSN’s Reese Decker, the team addresses its offensive line and pass rush early, before adding a receiver in round three. After both the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants pass on Shedeur Sanders with their opening picks, the Patriots miss out on both Abdul Carter and Travis Hunter. Regardless, they get a huge offensive talent in Will Campbell, who will likely be a cornerstone of the team’s rebuild under Mike Vrabel. “His anchor is firm, and his lateral quickness, paired with sharp hand-fighting skills, makes him more than capable of neutralizing finesse rushers. If that’s not enough, his 9.89 RAS only reinforces the fact that he’s an athletic freak. Teams that were high on Campbell before the NFL Combine aren’t likely to waver now.
I’m sure they weren’t surprised or scared off by his arm measurement, especially considering his positional flexibility.” Chances are Patriots fans would feel pretty good if New England addresses its three biggest needs with its four top-80 selections in the 2025 NFL Draft. Chances are they’d feel even better if one of those players included blue-chip prospect Travis Hunter. Well, that’s exactly what ESPN NFL draft expert Matt Miller predicted in a seven-round mock draft released Thursday. Miller projected each of New England’s nine draft selections, adding a pair of wide receivers and second-round offensive tackle with high upside. Check out Miller’s picks, including a brief synopsis for those who were drafted in the first three rounds, here:
Round 1, No. 4: Travis Hunter, CB/WR“Because of their free agency moves, the Patriots have an almost unlimited amount of options with this pick. New England would be very lucky to have the Heisman Trophy winner fall to this spot,” Miller wrote. “It’s not unrealistic that Hunter could be Odell Beckham Jr. on offense and Denzel Ward on defense. New England’s coaching staff would have fun devising ways to get him involved.”
Round 2, No. 38: Josh Conerly Jr., OT“Conerly was a running back in high school, so he still has room for growth and improvement,” Miller wrote. “But he was a top-flight Big Ten left tackle this past season and would fill a massive need for the Patriots.”
