Washington state voters have cast their ballots in the November 2025 general election. The voting deadline has passed, as ballot drop boxes closed at 8 p.m. on Nov. 4. Mailed ballots must have been mailed and postmarked by Tuesday to count. Washington is a vote-by-mail state, and ballots were sent to 5 million registered voters across 39 counties.

Results often take days to count as the ballots arrive in election offices in counties throughout the week. Under the state’s primary system, the top two vote-getters advance to the general election, regardless of party. That means races could have two Democrats or two Republicans facing each other in the general election. Keep reading for live, updated election results for all Washington state races. Gov. JB Pritzker suggested Wednesday that Illinois Democrats could revisit redistricting if neighboring Indiana moves to redraw its congressional boundaries, according to the Chicago Tribune. “We’re watching what Indiana does,” Pritzker told reporters. “Donald Trump is trying to cheat, so we may have to react to that.” Speaking after an Election Night of Democrat wins in blue states and cities, Pritzker said the results showed voters rejecting Trump’s “authoritarian” leadership and economic policies. Mike Braun has called a special session for Dec. 1 to consider a new map, a move Pritzker said could push Illinois to follow suit despite his opposition to partisan redistricting. Though the candidates and local issues all played a role in the results, voter attitudes about the president and his agenda were central to their choices and offered the first clear review from voters... Top Democrats celebrated the results as a major victory over Trump. The president meanwhile was quick to respond to the results on Tuesday night with a defensive social media post after results came. Citing pollsters, Trump said that "TRUMP WASN'T ON THE BALLOT," and the federal government shutdown "WERE THE TWO REASONS THAT REPUBLICANS LOST ELECTIONS TONIGHT." on Tuesday — and Democrats came out victorious. In New York City, voters elected Zohran Mamdani, a 34-year-old state Assembly member and democratic socialist, as their next mayor. Mamdani defeated former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who joined the race as an independent after losing in the Democratic primary. Democrats also won both of the governor’s races that were on the ballot. Abigail Spanberger, a former U.S.

representative, was elected in Virginia to replace outgoing Republican Glenn Youngkin. She will become the state’s first female governor. Mikie Sherrill comfortably won the governor’s race in New Jersey, keeping the state under Democratic control. Democrats also secured what could prove to be their most important win in California, where voters overwhelmingly approved Proposition 50 — a ballot measure that will allow them to redraw the state’s congressional districts... Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom proposed the initiative in response to Republican redistricting efforts in Texas and other red states.

The state’s proposed new map is expected to give Democrats five additional members in the House of Representatives, which could play a big role in determining which party holds the majority after next year’s...
