2024 nfl mock draft final first round projections with major trades up

The 2024 NFL draft is just days away, where teams are finalizing their draft boards before things kick off in Detroit on April 25. There are plenty of storylines to monitor heading into the first round, including how the run of quarterbacks unfolds. At this point, it’s all but official that the Chicago Bears will draft Caleb Williams at first overall. After that, everything’s on the table — what the Washington Commanders decide, quarterback-needy teams looking to move up and teams looking to trade up for other premium talent. We’re unveiling our seventh and final NFL Wires mock draft of the 2024 offseason. Our editors made player selections for all 32 picks in the first round.

Here are the results. After a year of anticipation, the 2024 NFL Draft is finally here. With that in mind, let’s take one last try at projecting all 32 first-round picks with a final 2024 mock draft. It’s hard to remember the last prospect who went coast to coast as the consensus top player in a class. Was it Jadeveon Clowney in 2014? Jameis Winston in 2015?

Either way, Caleb Williams will break that trend when the Bears officially make him this year’s No. 1 pick as Chicago looks to finally land a franchise quarterback. Despite Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye largely being viewed as on an even playing field as prospects, the consensus has seemingly been that Washington will take the former with the No. 2 pick. I’ll stick with that here, as it’s easy to envision the reigning Heisman Trophy winner finding instant success in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense. This might be the easiest pick in the draft.

Unless the Patriots trade down, one would imagine they’ll be taking whoever’s still available between Daniels and Drake Maye. In this instance, that happens to be Maye as New England takes its second swing on a first-round quarterback in the post-Tom Brady era. Predicting what's going to happen in the 2024 NFL Draft feels absolutely like a fool's errand. This is one of the most impossible drafts to forecast in recent memory, which is kind of what comes with the territory with the four top quarterbacks -- Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels... McCarthy -- involved. But predict this draft we shall with our final 2024 NFL Mock Draft.

Based on all of the rumors over the past month, trying to weed through the smokescreens, this is how I see every first-round pick playing out on Thursday night to get the 2024 NFL... There are a flurry of trades projected and some wild movement, but in the end, it all feels quite realistic. So let's get into it. We are pretty confidently predicting the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft as we have been for months now, but after that, we're just flying by the seat of our pants with logic, rumors, and everything in-between reigning supreme for... There’s no need to exhaust much oxygen (or finger-based energy) on this pick.

Caleb Williams has remained firm as the best quarterback in this draft class, the Bears have made no secrets that the former Heisman Trophy winner is the pick, and he’s going to be the... Jayden Daniels is not my second-ranked quarterback in this class but I’m buying all of the rumors that he’s going to be the No. 2 overall pick to the Washington Commanders. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner comes with a high-ish floor because of his elite scrambling and mobility but with massive upside as well. I still believe there are higher ceilings but he could work with Kliff Kingsbury and a strong cast of weapons in DC. The combine is over, and we are in the heat of free agency, so it is time to drop my 2024 NFL Mock Draft 2.0.

Make sure to check out the rest of our team’s mock drafts, like Andrew Erickson’s, where he shares some more betting insight into who your favorite team may be drafting in April. Justin Fields didn’t find a new home on day one of free agency, but his time in the driver’s seat in Chicago is over. The answer is clear. Caleb Williams will be the signal caller in the windy city. His arm talent and ability to play off script will bring versatility to a Bears offense through the air that it has never seen before. Jayden Daniels improved as a passer every year in college, but he still falls behind Drake Maye in my rookie grading.

Washington gets their guy, the quickly rising Daniels and Kliff Kingsbury get a chance to redefine Washington football culture. The Patriots have Drake Maye fall into their lap and get the fit they were hoping for as they look to the post-Bill Belichick Era. Maye possesses impressive arm talent and mobility for a player of his size. The Cardinals give Kyler Murray his elite wide receiver. There is a chance Marvin Harrison isn’t available at four; he’s that good, but it makes Arizona’s decision an easy one. Harrison is in rarified air as a prospect and should undoubtedly be the first wide receiver off the board.

Chicago Bears (through Carolina) - Caleb Williams - QB, USC ESPN released its final NFL Mock Draft, predicting multiple trades in the first round and finalizing the first 32 picks Thursday night. Williams has been the projected No. 1 pick since 2024 mocks started and nothing will change now. The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner is in while Justin Fields is out. The latter was traded to Pittsburgh. Williams is now the new face of the franchise and arguably the most talented QB the Bears ever had. With the 2024 NFL Draft now upon us, I am pleased to present my 2024 NFL Mock Draft: Final Edition.

These first-round projections are based on the current draft order and my personal impressions of team needs and interests entering the draft, with consideration given to potential trade scenarios.Enjoy the draft! 1 | Chicago Bears — Caleb Williams, QB, USCAfter months of anticipation, the Bears finally make their long-awaited selection and deliver Caleb Williams to Chicago. 2 | Washington Commanders — Jayden Daniels, QB, LSUFollowing weeks of speculation regarding their quarterback preference, the Commanders call on Jayden Daniels to lead the franchise. 3 | New England Patriots — Drake Maye, QB, North CarolinaI think the choice between Drake Maye and J.J. McCarthy is tougher than we realize for the Patriots, but Maye has emerged as the late favorite. 4 | Arizona Cardinals — Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio StateThe Cardinals expect to field offers from teams chasing the fourth quarterback, but moving out would likely mean missing out on Marvin Harrison Jr.
