1500 Jefferson Training Center

Located at 1500 Jefferson, the Department of Enterprise Services (DES) Training Center consists of four classrooms and two computer labs. The Training Center offers many classes to state employees, including computer training, investigator training, human resource development training, project management training, and risk management training. The headquarters of Enterprise Services is the 1500 Jefferson Building. The building is part of state government’s historic Capitol Campus. Using the roundabout, turn left onto Jefferson St. The building is immediately on your left. 1500 Jefferson, located on the east side of the State Capitol Campus in Olympia, Washington, opened in July 2011. This project for the Department of Information Service (DIS) was the first major construction on the Capitol Campus in the past two decades. The building consists of a six-story L-shaped office building with a three-story west wing that wraps a data center to the north and west. A new two-level, 300 stall underground parking garage serves the complex.

Extensive traffic improvements were made for the site, including new commuter-friendly sidewalks, bike lanes and landscaped roundabout at the 14th Avenue and Jefferson Street SE juncture. These improvements create an inviting entry to the State Capitol Campus. 1500 Jefferson was awarded "The Outstanding Building of the Year" ("TOBY") award, in the Government Building category, for both the Pacific Northwest Region and the BOMA International level in 2016. The building houses several state agencies, including Washington Technology Services, which manages the data center. The office complex offers a conference center with audio visual capabilities, a training center, bicycle parking and showering facility, and a retail cafe. 1500 Jefferson is set within a landscaped environment reminiscent of the Olmstead design used on the remainder of the campus.

The office building at 1500 Jefferson received LEED-CS Platinum certification in 2014. Most Department of Enterprise Services classes are taught in Olympia at the DES - 1500 Jefferson training facility. Personal computer and information technology classes are generally taught at (Lacey area) South Puget Sound Community College. View the 1500 Jefferson Building on the Capitol Campus Map. Completed in 2011, the 1500 Jefferson Building is the newest building on the East Capitol Campus. It houses the Department of Enterprise Services, Washington Technology Solutions, and the Department of Children, Youth, and Families. The 245,000 square-foot building includes a six-story L-shaped office building with a three-story wing that wraps around a data center. A 300-stall underground parking garage serves the complex. The building has a conference center equipped with modern audio-visual equipment, a training center for state employees, secured bicycle storage, shower facilities, and a mini food market for employees and building tenants.

The building’s exterior consists of stone and metal in colors that complement the historic buildings on West Capitol Campus. Additionally, its surrounding landscape reflect the work of the Olmsted Brothers, who designed the West Capitol Campus landscapes. In 2011, the 1500 Jefferson Building became the newest project on Capitol Campus since the 1990s. During the building’s construction, crews also made traffic improvements for the site, including sidewalks for pedestrians, bike lanes, and a new roundabout at the intersection of 14th Avenue and Jefferson Street SE. These improvements created an inviting gateway to Capitol Campus from I-5.
