With degrees from Harvard and Cornell, and coursework at MIT, I bring firsthand experience from some of the most competitive schools in the world. I work with just a few students each year, which allows me to provide personalized, one-on-one guidance.

My goal isn’t just to get students accepted—it’s to help them grow through the process and set the stage for future success. The earlier, the better. Ideally, students should start in their junior year of high school to maximize time for essay brainstorming, strategy development, and application refinement. However, I also work with seniors who need focused support for upcoming deadlines. I offer both options, depending on what works best for you. If you’re located near the DMV, I’m happy to meet in person.

For students farther away, video meetings are just as effective. Every session is personal and productive, no matter the format. I work with highly motivated students who are eager to present their best selves in their applications. My students come from diverse backgrounds and have a wide range of goals—from applying to Ivy League schools to finding the perfect match at your favorite state school. In special instances, I can assist with FAFSA & financial aid forms, however this is not my focus. My focus is on the college admissions process, including applications, essays, and strategy.

At 1-on-1 Admissions, I provide a level of care and attention that’s hard to find in other admissions coaching programs. While large companies work with thousands of students every year, I work with just a few students annually. This allows me to tailor every session, essay, and strategy specifically to you—nothing templated, nothing generic. Many admissions consultants charge between $200 and $1,000 per hour, often offering limited customization or long-term involvement. Comprehensive full-service packages typically range from $5,000 to $50,000, while high-profile charge over $100,000! With me, you set the price.

From the first step to the last, I’ll guide you through the process, ensuring your application highlights your unique strengths, passions, and potential. Hi, I’m Umaar Ehsan. My work is rooted in a simple truth: every story is unique, and when told thoughtfully, it has the power to open doors to opportunity.I know this because I’ve lived it. From community college to Cornell and Harvard, I’ve experienced firsthand what it takes to rise to the expectations of the world’s top institutions.

Admissions is no different. It’s about more than checking boxes or meeting requirements; it’s about clarity, precision, and above all, honesty.
