Established in 1926, the Department of Civil Engineering is one of the most time-honored departments within Tsinghua University. As early as 1916, “Tsinghua Xuexiao” (Tsinghua College, the predecessor of Tsinghua University) began to enroll students majoring in civil engineering and sent them to U.S. universities for further study. Currently, the department owns multi-level research platforms: laboratory of physics and mechanics of civil engineering materials, laboratory of structural engineering, and virtual laboratory of smart cities. The offered graduate programs and research activities cover the fields of civil and structural engineering, transportation engineering, surveying and mapping science and technology, construction management, real estate, and other related areas. ——No.7/6/5 in the QS World University Ranking (2021/2024/2025) within the discipline of Civil and Structural Engineering.
——Extensive expertises and prominent achievements in the fields of structural engineering, disaster prevention and mitigation, urbanization and infrastructure construction, transportation engineering, building information modeling, and construction management, among others. ——More than 30 “National Natural Science Awards”, “State Technological Innovation Awards”, and “National Science and Technology Progress Awards” recognitions received; Over 60 technical standards and codes drafted. ——35 Honored Visiting Professors and Distinguished Visiting Professors with strong international backgrounds. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Washington welcomes applications for both master’s and Ph.D. programs. The majority of graduate students are admitted annually, in autumn quarter, although a few online programs welcome new students on a quarterly basis.
For graduate students admitted in autumn quarter, preference is given to applications for admission and financial support that are received by December 15, 11:59 pm Pacific Standard Time. Applications received after the deadline are considered on a space available basis. Applicants may check the status of their application by logging into their online application and checking the status page. Applications will not be reviewed unless they are complete. Applications for the program are submitted through the UW Graduate School’s online application. Please do not submit any materials directly to UW CEE as they will not be reviewed.
The online application requires a non-refundable $90 application fee. When completing the online application, you will be asked to submit the following items: We are glad that you are considering graduate studies in Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering at Texas Tech University. Before continuing the application process, please examine the Graduate Student Profiles to compare your profile to those of our currently enrolled graduate students. Application to a U.S. graduate school can be expensive for many students.
Additionally, the amount of material required from the applicant is not insignificant and all documents, without exception, must be official. These guidelines, put forth from the Graduate School, are there to insure that only the best applicant is selected to be a member of the graduate body at Texas Tech University and our past... As such, under no circumstances can the application fee be waived nor can anything less than official documents be accepted. Any requests for such a consideration will be answered in the negative. Our application review process for fall admissions normally begins in January and continues through the spring. However to be considered for financial support it is highly recommended that your completed material (official transcripts, standard test scores) be submitted by the beginning of January.
There are a number of opportunities for financial support, but these are limited and competitive and doctoral students are given preference. Offers are made with financial support to 4−10 applicants who represent the highest potential for success in our graduate program. A limited number of positions are available in the spring and that review process would take place in October. Your application for graduate studies in Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering will be evaluated based on the following; (a) academic transcripts from previous academic programs (i.e. B.S. and M.S.
programs), (b) score reports from GRE (Aptitude) Test, (c) TOEFL/IELTS (International Applicants only), (d) 3 letters of recommendations. We also encourage candidates seeking a M.S. degree to apply to our program. We offer courses only, master's report, and master's thesis options. Graduate Research Degrees are research-focused graduate programs that can lead to a Ph.D. Affiliated Certificates are affiliated with a department's existing professional master’s degrees. Students can take these certificates as standalone credentials or apply their graduate credits toward an existing master’s degree in the department. Stackable Graduate Certificates are designed to build toward specific stacked master’s degrees. Credits earned through these may apply to other master’s programs, but students must work with an adviser to discuss applying credits toward a non-stacked master’s degree. These certificates can also be standalone credentials.
