Being the nephew of Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning and grandson of Archie Manning comes with its own set of expectations. Regarding how fans and media should treat young athletes like Manning, a redshirt sophomore, Brady gives a reminder that players need to be allowed time to develop. "Before, [players] had the kind of ability to fail when people weren't watching, to build that resiliency within themselves," Brady told Sports Illustrated in an interview promoting the SharkNinja Crispi Pro. "So I think it's a real challenge these days for these young kids because Arch Manning, you know, seems like a great kid and great player."

Tom Brady is by most accounts the greatest quarterback of all time. The soon-to-be Hall of Famer has more Lombardi Trophies than any franchise in NFL history at seven and won Super Bowl MVP a record five times during those runs. Like all athletes, though, Brady had his share of professional setbacks and demoralizing losses over his 23-year career. And Tom continually used these moments as valuable learning experiences to better both himself and his team. Brady has been a fixture in the media since his NFL retirement and is as equipped as anyone to talk about what Arch Manning just went through in his season debut for Texas.
The legendary quarterback-turned-pundit therefore offered some eye-opening remarks on what this could mean for the Longhorns' quarterback going forward. Brady had something to say about Manning’s performance. The former NFL star appeared on the Pro Football Focus in an interview on YouTube. “A lot of these guys, they’re so young. And with social media and Twitter and Instagram, you can make someone look so great, and you can tear them down so quick. Before, it used to be that you had to wait until the paper comes out the next day to make a real evaluation. But in the digital era, it happens in five seconds,” Tom Brady said.
“I think there’s a blessing and a curse in some of it. The curse is a lot of people pile on. The blessing is that there needs to be resilience built up in the quarterback as well. So even though he didn’t have his best game today, and they lost, if he uses this to his advantage, Arch, he’s going to be tougher for it. And he’s going to have a better next game because of it,” Brady continued.
