The Fall 2024 Reading Guide Booklist Queen
Get your fall reading list ready because I have the best books to read this Fall 2024 with all the top choices of great books to read. Hallelujah, fall is just around the corner! With back-to-school season and cooler weather come some of the best fall reads I’ve seen in a while. All summer long, I’ve been perusing the upcoming release lists. I’ve wrestled over which books to include and which to leave out. Here for your reading pleasure is my list of the best books of Fall 2024.
I’ve got book club favorites, historical fiction, mysteries, thrillers, and some nonfiction books. Some I’ve read and some I can’t wait to read, but all of them are perfect for my Fall 2024 Reading Guide. Retired math teacher Grace Winters is shocked when she inherits a run-down house on a Mediterranean island from a long-lost friend. With a one-way ticket in hand, Grace arrives in Ibiza and searches for answers on how her friend lived and died. But what Grace uncovers seems impossible, forcing her to confront her own past in another touching novel from the author of The Midnight Library. It’s Big Book Season again, and you know what that means: lists.
(Yes, there are also lists during all the other seasons. Lists are (chaotic?) good.) It also means that it’s time again for Literary Hub’s Ultimate Fall Reading List, in which I valiantly endeavor to read all the seasonal literary recommendation/anticipation/best of lists I can... This season, I processed a total of 27 lists, which collectively recommended a total of 464 books (there were much fewer lists, and therefore books, than last year at this time, alas—support your media!). I then collated the results to find the 78 books that were recommended three times or more, which I present here for you in descending order of popularity, beginning with the winner, which will... The Pumpkin Spice Café by Laurie Gilmore Happily Haunted Afters by Brittany Kelley Can’t Help Falling in Love by Sophie Sullivan Which books are worth the read and which should you skip? Find out what books I’ve been reading lately and whether I recommend them. October was a mixed bag for me.
My calendar was incredibly busy: I had one trip, my husband had two, and we had multiple house guests during the month. And, of course, all of that just happened to overlap. Plus, October is always the cumulation of all the Fall activities rolled into one. In our case, that means soccer, soccer, and more soccer. Despite that, I finally found some space to read again. My nightstand is getting perilously full of books to be read but I was able to chip away and five of the newest releases.
But as the US Presidential election gets closer and closer, my anxiety has been creeping higher and higher. I am more interested in this election than any other I have voted in, and with the polls so close, I have no idea which way things will go. So until things are decided and final, you’ll find me over here getting lost in the magical and predictable world of the Harry Potter books. Welcome back. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. Much like how any book can be a beach read if you try hard enough, any book can be the perfect cozy, blanket-worthy, fall/winter read if the temps outside deem it so.
There's a lot coming out on the publishing horizon but here are a few that might be worth some extra consideration as you're putting together your library hold list. Will There Ever Be Another You by Patricia Lockwood, Sept. 23 Patricia Lockwood's 2021 book, No One is Talking About This, was a novel about being sad and alone online, coming out at a time when a lot of us were sad and alone online. Lockwood's latest novel is a more straightforward COVID novel. But don't get it twisted – this being a Lockwood novel, don't expect it to be straightforward at all.

It takes place in the middle of the Great Depression, and follows Hicks McTaggert, "a one-time strikebreaker turned private eye," who goes out on a routine case which, as you can guess, turns out... I am so excited to share this year’s Fall Reading Guide!
