Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum (Hyde Park, NY) The National Archives Museum in Washington, DC, is redesigning its permanent galleries, learning center, and theater. During the renovation, the National Archives’ Education staff will continue to facilitate on-site education programs for K–-12 classes and teacher professional development sessions. Visitors to the Discovery Center’s Archives Arcade will step into history through fun and engaging games, where they will exercise their First Amendment rights, promote Constitutional checks and balances, and much more. Guests are invited to have fun learning about civic engagement through the records of the National Archives. The Discovery Center includes an activity space and classroom for the National Archives education team to host formal and informal educational programs and visiting school groups. Whether you’re just beginning your career as an archivist or have been in the field for years, SAA provides a number of professional development opportunities. The continuing education program offers refresher and introductory courses on archival practices as well as two certificate programs: the Digital Archives Specialist (DAS) Certificate and the Arrangement and Description (A&D) Certificate. The virtual workshop is led by Micaela Blei, a two-time Moth GrandSLAM winner with a PhD in narrative education. You’ll learn: ● The connections among narrative performance, research, and teaching; ● How to brainstorm and craft stories of your own.

After completing this workshop, budding storytellers and bards will have the opportunity to submit their story for possible performance in a special Valentine’s Day virtual storytelling event —“A Finding Aid to My Soul”—on February... If selected, you’ll receive additional guidance from Dr. Blei to help fine-tune your story. Stay tuned for more details. This virtual workshop is on Wednesday, October 30, 12p-3p (CT). Our standards-based, interactive programs feature historical documents, photographs, maps, posters, and other primary sources.

Civics for All of US is the new education initiative from the National Archives that promotes civic literacy and engagement. Our Training Materials Catalog contains most of the training materials that we develop, including all of the new online lessons that are part of the new training curriculum that we call Curriculum 2.0. NARA Bulletins: Reformatted for Training In 2020, the Records Management Training Program ended its in-person workshops and moved to an all-online, self-paced format. Now, you can take our records management training on your own schedule, for free.

Our Online Learning page Online Lessons gives you access to all of the training lessons we have developed. While we no longer offer the Certificate of Federal Records Management Training, everyone can explore training content on a variety of records management topics found in our Training Catalog.
