During New Student Registration, you'll meet with academic advisors and register for fall courses. New Student Registration sign-ups begin in mid-March. To sign up, you'll need to take the following steps: Pre-advising worksheets and placement exams will be available in myIllini beginning in May. They'll help you prepare and allow your advisor to best assist you in choosing classes that are right for you. Make sure to finish your worksheet and any placement exams you're required to take at least two weeks before your registration date, or your reservation may be subject to cancellation.

Please note that any Grainger College of Engineering first-year student who has not completed the ALEKS math assessment exam one week prior to their New Student Registration date will have their program date rescheduled. Grainger Engineering transfer students do not need to complete the ALEKS math assessment. When you sign up for registration, your college will send you more details to help you prepare for your appointment. You'll want to review the information provided by your college to learn what to expect from your appointment and beyond. Complete the following checklist prior to the start of classes. Some of these items can be completed before International Student Check-In.

Not all items are applicable to all students. If you have questions, please contact us! Visit the I-Card website for directions on getting an I-Card. You will need to obtain your NetID and set your password online to have computing access on campus. You will be asked for your name, UIN, and date of birth. Students in F-1 and J-1 status are required by federal law to report a local address upon arrival to the United States and within 10 days anytime they move.

Please refer to our Campus Map to explore Illinois further. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring your NetID, NetID password, and an official photo ID to campus. Parking for NSR has been set aside in Lot E14, which is located just off of Kirby Avenue. Admissions staff will be present to direct you to the buses that will take you to the Illini Union for check-in. You'll want to arrive 15-30 minutes early to ensure you have enough time. You'll find events and timing for both students and guests to help you plan before you attend. Your admitted student checklist in myIllini should help guide you through your next steps as an admitted student, but if you have any more questions, you'll hopefully find all your answers here. As an admitted student, you'll log in to your myIllini account as a "future student" using the same information you provided during the application process. Then, you can click on your application for admission to view and manage your personalized admitted student checklist. Your admission was, in part, based on your schedule. Therefore, we’ll only approve drops in your schedule for medical reasons or extenuating circumstances.

You can change your schedule, but the change must be to a comparable level course (e.g., AP for AP, honors for honors, etc.). Don't make any changes to your schedule unless you've received approval from our office. Any request for a schedule change must be submitted through myIllini. When we review final transcripts, we check final grades as well as your senior year courses. An unauthorized schedule change or extreme drop in grades could jeopardize your admission. Your application for admission is used to determine your eligibility for all merit-based scholarships and honors awarded through us.

Two of these programs (ACE IT and FYCARE) must be completed in the fall and the other during the spring semester (I-Connect). We will be performing scheduled server maintenance from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 2. You will not be able to access myIllini during this time.
