This program provides a seamless transfer of coursework from the Gunnison residential campus for a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering awarded by CU Boulder. A student must meet the requirements for the CU Boulder College of Engineering & Applied Science and may apply for admission when they have established a successful collegiate record as a Western student.

Within three years of graduation, our alumni will: Colorado Mesa University (CMU) and CU Boulder have created a partnership to deliver specific engineering baccalaureate programs in their entirety in Grand Junction, Colorado. The first two years of coursework are taught by CMU faculty and the second two years of coursework are taught by CU Boulder faculty located in Grand Junction. Students completing the programs will be awarded a Bachelor of Science from CU Boulder. Degrees are offered in civil engineering, electrical & computer engineering, and mechanical engineering, with additional details on the engineering partnership program website. Rady Department of Mechanical Engineering has partnerships with Western Colorado University in Gunnison, Colorado and Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado. These partnerships allow students to earn a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from CU Boulder while taking all courses on the Western Slope. This course introduces the fundamentals of programming logic through MATLAB and Arduino, which will be used as software tools in future ME courses in the curriculum. Students in this course will create hands-on programming projects using MATLAB and microcontrollers to learn programming skills, such as control flow, I/O, functions, files, strings, vector/array manipulation, other data structures, and basic algorithms that... This provides the practice that students need to become more skilled in the process of technical design as it is practiced in the workplace. Intro to design aims to build students' confidence in applying fundamental problem-solving concepts in order to solve complex, open-ended problems. Restricted to students who specified one or more of these Programs of Study or Program Foci: CU Boulder Partnership Program- Mechanical Engineering; or instructor permission.
