On Saturday, November 9, join a Bookmaking Workshop on Japanese Binding with instructor Shannon Broder, spend a couple of Saturdays on October 19 and October 26 at Introduction to the Documentary Interview with filmmakers... September 24 – November 26 (10 sessions) Instructor: Kat Llewellyn, owner, creative director, Dumfun Productions, LLC Stop-motion feature films can require hundreds of people, computer-controlled cameras, model makers, textile departments and even 3D printers. Great stop motion can also be created with a single piece of string, a piece of construction paper, or even the things on your desk. In this studio course, students will explore how to animate and shoot a stop-motion sequence and to finalize their animations with live action or illustrated backplates, or simple sets.
All aspects of stop-motion animation will be covered, including puppet construction, animation, lighting, shooting, compositing, and editing. Photographing Intimacy, Love and Human NarrativesThursdays, 6:30 – 9:30pm September 19 – December 12 The focus of this critique-based course is to enhance the artist's vision and photographic language while chronicling the human condition. As they work on their own projects over the semester, students will be encouraged to break through the boundaries between themselves and their subjects in various ways.
Commercial PortfolioTuesdays, 6:30 – 9:30pm October 1 – November 26 In this intensive course, students will edit and sequence their existing work to begin creating their commercial portfolio. Students will evaluate their visual strengths and discuss personality strengths to understand how both influence the type of commercial work they will get hired for. Lighting on Assignment: How to Make It Work No Matter What Saturdays, 10:30am – 3:00pm September 21 – November 23 This hands-on course will prepare you to become a people photographer by building your... CE also offers one-off workshops and thought-provoking events throughout the year for free. On September 2, join them for a round of drawing challenges with cartooning instructor Tom Motley and an introduction to watercolor with instructor Andrew Chang on September 9. You can also check out their upcoming information sessions on CE’s Interior Design and Visual Narrative course offerings. This fall, you’ll also be able to find CE at the Photoville Festival in Brooklyn Bridge Park and the Affordable Art Fair.
